Hello
we have a pc used mainly for storage on our home network. we were having a
problem with the screen as when we scrolled on any program or folder or
browser, instead of moving smoothly up or down, it would jitter the whole
way, hard to explain. like when a page refreshes but constantly until it
reached where you stopped scrolling.
Everything else was ok. looked at harware devices and on Display it had a
yellow question mark.
On opening it says this device cannot start. The device is Nividia Gforce
420. So I tried to reinstall it but it kept saying that there is no
information for this driver, eventhough I browsed at the driver folder of
where I downloaded the new driver from Nividia. And then at the end of the
install device wizard is says this device cannot start.
So I looked for the setup file in the folder where I downloaded the driver
and it seemed to install ok and said you must now reboot. When I rebooted
and get passed the Windows XP spash screen (where the green bar at the
bottom shows loading progress) the screen is then goes black, blank. We know
windows has rebooted properly as we can hear all the right sounds and the
regular ones like msn and stuff.
I can't open in safe mode as it reaches the screen that shows all the
drivers being loaded and then stops and nothing happens.
What can I do?
Thanks

I had something similar recently and after the Windows spalsh screen it went
black and by accident I left it for about 5 minutes and it finally started up.
How long have you left you PC to boot?
