All of a sudden I started having problems with my e-mail. I need help
desperately, but I am not that knowledgeable with computers. I have a lot of
people mad at me...when I send e-mails, everyone gets it hundreds of times.
Also when I send an e-mail it doesn't appear in my sent box it automatically
goes into my outbox. Sometimes I can't receive e-mails, sometimes I can. I
am getting error reports, but I can't read them. I have called my cable
service and they checked everything out and said all my settings are correct.
Why then is this happening? Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

OE 6 uses a set for folders and files called the 'Message Store" (*.dbx
files in the OE folders) You probably have a corrupt 'Outbox.dbx' file.
An easy try at a fix is to use the File menu, Identities item to create and
use a new Identity, thus avoiding all the corrupt message store problems.
You will have to recreate the default email entry, and then use the File
menu, IMPORT feature to recover old mail.
Search for hidden files, and look for 'outbox.dbx' to define the location of
the old identity files to import.

I forgot to include that if that is no help, try reinstalling OE6

Search for msoe50.inf(The default location is C:\Windows\Inf folder (a
hidden file)) Right click the Msoe50.inf file, and click Install. Insert XP
CD when prompted, Browse to the I386 folder, click Open, then OK.

Good advice, but don't you think a 2nd step would be to
assume malware and scan thusly? The OP makes no
mention of that, or even of AV/firewall usage. His
machine could possible be a borked zombie.
For the OP:

How to Post a newsgroup
question effectively:

Good point. Hopefully the original poster (OP) will look into it.
I guess it's just my preference to answer only what is asked. IMO people
seldom take advice, and never when they don't ask for it :/
