I find your link to be rather difficult for a beginning PC user.
Strange, I've been using those instructions for a couple of years now and have only ever had one person that found any difficulty with them.
To be honest... they couldn't be much simpler.
The link I posted removes the old version and installs the new versions of both Java and Adobe. You just need to uncheck the ASK tool bar and the uninstall and up date install runs smoothly.
I fail to see why you need software like this to do such a simple job.
I would never install a program to do work for me just because I was too lazy to do something for myself.
If more people got to know how their system worked and took the time to actually learn.... they would have a much better understanding of their system.
It can be rather difficult to remove Java through the Ad/Remove program. Some times there is more than one version to remove .
Java is simple enough.... it uninstalls like any other program.
If there is more than one version.... then you didn't install the latest version correctly.
The only time that 2 versions can be installed at the same time is if the system is a 64bit system.
In this case it is acceptable to have both the 32bit and the 64bit versions installed.....
as you may well have both 32bit and 64bit programs installed that may require one or the other version.
Also the down load is very hard to find in your link! Also confusing as to which down load to use.
Read the post fully and you'll see that everything is explained.
Even the which download is explained.
If a user doesn't know if they have a 32bit or a 64bit system... then they don't know their system very well at all.
Why go to all the trouble to remove these if you all ready have the latest version.
From Java themselves.....
Should I uninstall older versions of Java?
We highly recommend that you uninstall all older versions of Java from your system.
Keeping old versions of Java on your system presents a serious security risk.
Uninstalling older versions of Java from your system ensures that Java applications will run with the latest security and performance improvements on your system.
