Can DVD's be used to back up a pc instead of cd's ?

if you have a DVD burning program ....yes
XP does not natively burn to a DVD only CD's

John I don't think the program you are suggesting will backup directly to
DVD.

You need third party software that can burn to DVD. Acronis TrueImage 11 is
an excellent program that will do full backups to DVD as well as individual
files, folders, or e-mail and other settings. You can even schedule it.

You could be right Xandros, as I use my USB hard drive with this program.
