I hope it is okay to add another post as this follows on from problems that
I have been having with dvd/cd driver.

Original Problem Title of Post:- CDRW & Error Message

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertz...7c-53398ba4aaf4

I've just got the CPU back from the computer shop and can now burn dvds and
the new dvd drive seems to be working of sorts but the Autoplay option
doesn't come up when inserting any discs.

I right clicked F Drive and on Properties the Autoplay tab it is ticked next
to "prompt me each time to choose an option".

Tested CDRW -

Have inserted a disc which has pictures and documents and it didn't give me
the option "how would I like to open this cd" ie with folder etc.

Had to access the cd by clicking F drive and opening it this way but it does
copy information on to the disc now.

Tested Craft CD -

This is an autorun cd but it didn't autorun but I can access the picture
files by doing the above but this isn't right.

Music CD -

Again it didn't come up in windows media but I accessed via F Drive and it
wanted to install Windows Media Player 9 so I followed the instructions to
install and the music played.

Not sure why it wan't to install the media player as I did media player
before and haven't altered anything ???

I have done a quick search to see what comes up about problems with autoplay
but I don't know enough to start fiddling with things without some advice.

It's just cost £80 for the new dvd drive to be put in and for them to do
something so that the dvd driver would copy information on to the disc.
(details on original problem post)

I asked them why the autoplay still wasn't working but they didn't know and
said that upper and lower filters were missing and can't be put back. I have
no idea what this means.

I also asked them to confirm that if the computer went kaput that the new
drive would be able to reload xp from the xp discs we have and was told that
shouldn't be a problem.

I am hoping that someone will be able to fix this last problem.

Many thanks

Update:-

Just went to on to Internet Explorer and it wouldn't work! It kept taking me
on to AOL so I've just done a windows update and it is now installing IE7
(when I already had before taking it to computer shop) IE8.

Going to install new updates, reboot and check again as I have no idea what
has been done.

This might explain why media player disappeared and had to be put back.

Hello Rey

I've just printed this off and will have a look in a moment.

I've just rebooted after having to do a windows update ie putting back
Internet Explorer and just came back to error messages and mouse errors.

Clicked Internet Explorer to test it was working and got this error:-

Error loading C:\windows\system32\netcpl.cpl

The operating system cannot run %1.

I've just set some things to print and that has gone strange too.

I also looked at the System Restore and it shows no history prior to 25
August 2009

I have NO IDEA what they have done with this computer.

FINAL UPDATE

I have been trying to sort this out since late afternoon and have finally
given in.

We have decided it is in too much of a mess to try and fix, as nothing is
working ... printer, internet explorer, windows update so have ordered a new
cpu and have written this of to experience.
