Windows NT Automatic Outlook Profile Generation not working in TS

Hi
Here is the description of the problem:
Installed MS office 2003 on Terminal Server using MST designed to allow
auto-generation of the outlook profile whenever new user logs on.
Default profile was overwritten with new default profile AFTER the above was
done, now auto-generation of outlook no longer works and we have to define
exchange server and user name every time a new user needs to logon.

Here is what has been done to try and rectify:
Uninstalled Microsoft office, overwrote default user profile one more time
and reinstalled Office using newly regenerated MST- did not work

Here is installation command for office:
\\ufpasrv02\si\office2003\setup.exe
TRANSFORMS=\\ufpasrv02\si\office2003\ufpaoffice2003ts.MST /qb-

Any clues to what i should do next?

Why do you keep overwriting the default profile? If you configure the
MST properly you shouldn't have to do anything with the default profile.

On normal workstations I have encountered this.

To ensure the MST file is applied I had to uninstall Office, then delete the
MS Office folder in the Program Files folder, then reinstall Office using the
MST file.

I cannot see this working differently on a TS. Please note I am not sure
what it may do to current profiles for other Office applications, however I
believe any custum settings are stored in the users profile.

Changes to the default user profile in our environment are made in order to
further lock down a Terminal Server. An example would be removing specific
application links from the start menu or programs menu that GPO-based
lockdown could not remove. Normally, configuring these changes and then
overwriting the def profile is done before we install office, but in this
instance it was applied after the installation.

Thanks Dan

I will try this. Do you think there are any registry settings that I may
have to delete as well?

Try doing this before you install office. Most likely the problem is
that the default profile had an outlook profile already generated and it
isn't recognizing otherwise.

That is what we tried, but it looks like the default profile is still keeping
whatever outlook profile was generated for it. Can we delete/recreate the
default profile? If so, how?

Just taking a stab at this,..curious to see what the best answer would
be,...

1. Log on with a new user to an unmolested machine that is similar, but
doesn't have office on it.
2. User the File and Setting Transfer Wizard from an XP CD to save the
Profile
3. Log on with the new user directly to the TS box (not RDP into it)
4. Use the File and Setting Transfer Wizard from an XP CD to copy the
Profile over
5. Use this profile to copy over the Default Profile

You can copy a default profile from a fresh server.
