Autio does not suspend when logging off users with parental controls

I use the Vista Parental Controls on my Vista Ultimate system. I have
enabled schedules for my kids to limit computer use times. A problem that I
have found is if one of my kids is playing audio and their time runs out,
they are logged off but the audio still keeps on playing. I think that
Vista does not log off the user but just does a user switch out. I have had
to log on with my account and then force the offending logon to end using
Task Manager. This is the only way I can get the audio to stop for the
previous user. Is there any setting that will suspend audio when the user
is switched out of their session?

Hi Ken,

Actually, there is a bug in some audio drivers where the sound does not cut
off even though the media player is shut down. This may be what you are
experiencing, and the only current solution I know of is to ensure the user
stops playback prior to shutting the player down and/or logging off.

Not sure if it may or may not be an audio driver problem. The driver is a
Realtek High Definition Audio driver.
The problem is not so much in shutting down the player as it is a problem
when the user is switched out using fast-user-switching. When switching to
a different user, the audio for the previous user is not suspended. This is
very annoying, especially if the switched out user has a password on it. I
have to log on as an admin and then kill that user session in order for
audio on that user to stop. There has to be a better way.

Hello, new to this site and it looks good. I did a search and found
this thread before looking around.

On this topic I want to clarify that there is no issue with audio
controls but that parental controls do not log the user OFF, they
simply go into "Switch User" mode. This is annoying and doing a lot of
research I've found no fixes besides maybe downloading a 3rd party
parental controls program.

So is this a bug? Is there a way I don't know about to make it log a
user off as opposed to switching the user off?

TIA

BTW nice site here, will bookmark it!
