audio device

I have win XP
I can not play any sound
when I go to control panel/sounds and audio devices/audio tab - it says " no
playback devices"
I did not change any hardware in my PC probably I've deleted something
accidentally
how can I fix it

Reinstall your sound card drivers. If that doesn't work, your sound card may
have died. If you have a desktop computer it is very easy to put in a new
sound card they are quite inexpensive. If you have a laptop, contact the
laptop mftr.'s tech support.

General drivers information:

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer
(HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model
machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor or System Information for Windows.

I uninstalled , rebooted and reinstalled my audio on MB
still "no playback devices"
but Belarc software shows in multimedia :
C-Media AC97 Audio Device
MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
Standard Game Port

what else can I do before I buy new sound card :)
