I have an old Windows XP laptop. Understand manufacturer is not now in
business.
Problem I have is there is a yellow explanation mark next to audio device,
in device manager. Have tried various drivers from manufacturer of audio
device. have tried troubleshooter (code 10) and many other suggestions and
idea's. Properties tells me that the files are all downloaded in Driver
details. Resources tells me This device isn't using any resouces because it
has a problem.
I have formated the HD and reloaded Windows XP.
Any idea's please

Check the BIOS & make sure sound is enabled,&/or clear the CMOS,reset
BIOS..If all is ok,try expanding the sound tree in device mgr,R.click on the
sound hardware, properties, update driver, use the "let me choose driver"
option,
see what its offering & install...Also,reinstall the boards chipset
installation
utility, get this from intel or amd,etc...Do this 1st..After all is set,go
to run,
type:DXDIAG Run the direct x sound checks.
