Does anyone know how to fix the issue I have been having with all of my media
players. First off Windows media player, skips during every video that I
play. I am also having the same problem with audio files as well with win
Amp, and itunes. It looks like across the board all my media players are
skipping. How can I fix this problem? Please note that I am working with
the latest versions of Windows Media Player, itunes, WinAmp. I have updated
quicktime as well. has anyone had this problem? If so How can I fix it.

Thanks,

Josh

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

Hardware specs, particularly the amount of RAM and the make/model of the
sound card?

Check your audio control panel of your sound card manufacturer. In most
cases, there are wrong settings in the control panel. Example is Realtek.

Make sure you do not have programs running in the background---particularly
scanning programs.

Just in case it is CPU having trouble keeping up, check that the hard
drive has not reverted to PIO. It should be DMA. (Device manager, IDE
controllers, Primary IDE, properties, Advanced settings tab) If PIO is
Current transfer mode, Remove the channel and then "Scan for hardware
changes" to reinstall it.
