The EU has reached a decision on Apple's acquisition of Beats Electronics, passing the deal through with the all clear. The $3 billion deal to purchase the Beats brand has been in the works for some time and will enable Apple to absorb not only the new (and fairly popular) music streaming service, but also an iconic family of premium headphones.
It was decided that the transaction, the most expensive acquisition in the history of Apple, would not threaten competition and will be allowed to pass through. The music service is said to be worth around $500 million of the deal, while the headphone business is valued at around $2.5 billion. Beats co-founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine will join Apple as part of the acquisition. What are your thoughts on the acquisition? Let us know in the comments.
