App Insists on Reinstall/Config after moving Menu Folder

I've done a lot of searching on the net and couldn't find anything
helfpul on this one, but I suspect it isn't too difficult; hope
someone here can offer a solution:

I installed an application on my XP machine. It only allowed for
installation in the root of the menu system. I use the "Classic Start
Menu" and have all choices sorted into 7 basic folders off the "Start/
Programs" menu system. This application created an 8th folder called
"AppSoAndSo" (pseudo-name) so I went into "Documents and moved it into
one of the other 7 folders that are my personal user practice. As
soon as I did that, then whenever I restart the machine, it insists on
reconfiguring or resinstalling the application!

I just click "Cancel" and use the application as normal, but it drives
me nuts to have that showing up everytime the machine gets
restarted.

If I recreate that "AppSoAndSo" folder in the root menu structure the
reconfig/install window goes away. If I then add the letter "x" to
the folder name, as in "xAppSoAndSo" then it comes back - so I know
it's simply checking for that folder in the menu structure for some
reason.

I've looked around, including snooping in the registry somewhat, and
have been unable to find a setting that I can change or eliminate that
fixes tihs problem. Can anyone help, please?

Additional notes: I meant "Documents and Settings" above and left off
the "and Settings"" part by mistake. Also, what happens is that
Windows Installer runs and is trying to make the reconfig/reinstall.
I've searched the registry and played with a few keys (changing some
settingsf rom 1 to 0 and none helped. I even found the "*.msi" file
in \Windows\Installer and renamed that, but nothing I've done so far
keeps that stupid reconfig from running when the machine is restarted.
The application isn't even running, but somewhere it's left an
artifact that is causing this behavior when it doesn't find that
folder in the root menu structure - aggravating for sure. Hope
someone here has a successful solution to offer. Thanks.

Well, cancel this question. I found it. The problem was so obvious I
overlooked it: There was an icon in the "Startup" folder which I
didn't notice. Once I got rid of that (which was put there during the
install and was failing upon bootup since i had changed the menu tree)
the irritating startup behavior went away. Apologies for bothering
everyone - and thanks anyway.
