AntiVirus and Malware

Please understand the I am a beginner. I have many questions about protecting my Wi-Fi security which is secured by my carrier) and against any virus and malware detections and removals. I currently downloaded (free trial) McAfee. I have not purchased it yet. It has detected many unusual events and guaranteed the events but they want me to pay $90 for their removal kit! What is the most efficient and reliable protection to get? A virus entered in to my last laptop and melted it down! I had Security Essentials and Malware Anti-Virus Pro 1.7. When I run McAfee for internet security it detects 35-attempts to get in to my secure site.


Now I understand I am addressing a Microsoft Community Forum and you probably have to tell me Microsoft products are what I must buy. Some of these apps are very expensive and I ask if I would get better protection? Any answers
