anti virus use

Hello,

There are lately some big discussions about witch anti virus is the best and
so on
I use and advice kaspersky (microsoft gold certified partner)
so I tought, what would the experts say?
when you post an anti virus that you think is the best give a good reason
it doenst make any sence when you dont post reasons included

I like Avast anti-virus. I've never had it miss a virus (and I try to infect
machines at times to test potential damage), it is very easy to use, the
updates are frequent, and it's free. I also like that it doesent come with a
firewall, since Windows firewall does not play nice with other software
firewalls.

I like McAfee. Over the past 16 years as an IT professional and
consultant, I've tried many different flavors of anti-virus. Every
couple of years I would take a known virus and put it in a computer with
mcafee and another computer with norton. Most of the time norton would
not find it or would say it didn't know how to clean it off. mcafee has
always been good. Over the past few years there are alot of free anti-
virus programs, avg, anti-vir, clamwin, etc. Depending on the IT
professional you talk to, it seems like everyone's got their opinion.
I've used anti-vir and clamwin, but havn't done any comparissons lately,
but they seem to be find.

I actually don't have anti-virus software installed, I only use it to
clean off viruses for others. For clients/friends/family/etc. I either
install one of the free ones listed above, or suggest they purchase
mcafee. I buy their cheapiest version (without all the bloatware) which
usually includes a DOS scanner. i then put the dos scanner on my flash
drive and use when I'm helping someone else. mcafee offers free
updates, but you have to do it manually through their ftp site,
otherwise you can pay them a yearly fee for auto updates.

but what do you think of the fact that Mcafee doenst provide updates in the

Can I install Avast even if I don't have an internet connection on my
apartment?

I think, registering online is required.
