An anonomous phone call from someone saying that they are with Windows and there is a problem...

I just received a phone call from someone stating that they are with Windows and there is a problem with my laptop. Has this happened to anyone else and how can someone find out what type of device I'm using (i.e. Laptop)? How can I check to see if someone else is accessing my account?
