Hi:

I, like many other people. prefer to align my desktop icons by Name. I
assume that means alphabetically, but that doesn't happen. I don't understand
why some are aligned by name, but others aren't. I would like to know if
there's some way to force XP to actually align all icons in alphabetical
order. Is there some special trick?

Thanks,
Robert

Which icons are not aligning by name?
Some System icons will always be first, i.e. My Computer, etc.

Richard:

I should been a little more specific. I'm not talking about the system icons
such as MyComputer or the Recycle Bin. Here's the current alignment.

In the first column it's:

IE
Access
Adobe Captivate
Citrix
Excel
Outlook
Power Point
Snag It
Word
Abel2Extract

In the 2nd column of icons it's
Adobe Acrobat
Calculator
MS Office Communicator
Training
Windows Explorer

It seems as if the first 9 icons are sorted alphabetically and then a second
group is sorted alphabetically. I would much prefer only ONE group sorted
alphabetically.

It is taht way because some icons are installed in the "all users > desktop"
folder and some are installed to the "username > desktop" folder. The "all
users" folder is listed alphabetically first, then the "username" folder.
