Hey Guys,
Okay, I don't know if this is just stupid or what.
My computer hasn't been online since July of 2007, so when I finally bring
it back online, at first everything is fine. Microsoft wants to do some
security updates and what not to apparently bring my computer back up to
speed. As does my AVG anti-virus software.
Ever since then, my computer freezes up slightly, I don't know what's going
on. Like my mouse cursor keeps stopping and going then it just locks out. I
also did a AVG virus scan to find that something has been changed since
Microsoft did the updates..."shell.32.dll has changed." Also something about
"Boot error of C Disk Error." I don't know if these are viruses or what--but
something went wrong after the update. I ran AVG in safe mode and found
nothing, I also uninstalled Norton which I don't use--I was told not to use 2
anti-virus programs. Plus the subscription to Norton was out of date anyway,
so I couldn't use it. I also uninstalled AVG and reinstalled, but haven't
done a proper scan yet--one is scheduled to happen later today.
I had a brief thought of doing a non-destructive system recovery, but I
wrote it off as stupid and over-the-top.
Thanks so much for your help, you guys are so helpful when it comes to this
type of stuff.
Cheer and Happy Christmas.
Regards,
Pikespeak
