Lenovo slapped "Norton Internet Security" as a preload onto my laptop,
so I had to wrestle to get the thing out. I was then getting this error
when running some legacy 16-bit programs:
"Windows 16 bit subsystem:
C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVNT.DLL. An installable Virtual Device Driver
failed Dll initialization. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."
So I went to '"16 Bit MS-DOS Subsystem" Error Message When You Install a
Program,' KB314452, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314452/. I followed
the instructions, and created a new VDD key. Now, when I run a 16-bit
program, or command.com, the program immediately self-terminates. With
command.com, I see the window for an instant, and then it's gone. It is
not running behind the scenes, as it doesn't show up in Task Manager.
How do I fix my 16-bit subsystem? Thanks.
