Hi,

Up to know I dual-boot XP Pro SP2 and Ubuntu 7.04 where GRUB takes over the
boot sequencing and selection....I partially reinstalled XP a couple of days
ago and the MBR was taken away from GRUB so that now it is "windows" that
shows the options of OS and of course it does not include ubuntu yet...

Is it possible to edit boot.ini to add ubuntu to the list? it is in a extfs2
partition of the same HD in a laptop.....or is reinstalling GRUB the only
option to dual boot?

Thanks

You just need to repair Grub. No big deal. Boot with your Ubuntu CD and
do the Grub repair from there. Google for it if you need more detail.

So do you mean that is not possible to instead of repairing GRUB, include
Ubuntu in the list of boot.ini and then let XP take care of the booting
sequences?

Thanks,
D.

You can use the XP bootloader instead of Grub but it's a convoluted
method. Using Grub is far more straight-forward and Grub is a better
bootloader. If you really want to use XP's instead:
