I have a sick Windows 2003 server which needs reinstalling.
Does anyone know a easy & good way to backup Acive Directory, so I can
resote all the settings once I format & reinstall the server?

Thank You

hello,

what do you mean by sick ?
If the sick come from AD, you will travel it to the furture server..

You can backup the AD using ntbackup.

You can always replicate AD move all the roles to a different DC and
reinstall the old server.

It just keeps locking up & needs to be rebooted.

Sometimes it wont start on the 1st reboot and needs several goes, or power
removed then plugged in again & rebooted to start up properly.

You should understand the real problem and correct it.
Watch the eventlog, it's a great source of information.

You can have explanation on errors in the eventlog with eventid:
http://www.eventid.net

Just give it the event number and you will read many comments on them (often
how to solve it)

And one good advice: stop rebooting, start understanding )
