I reloaded Vista and updated, all drivers showed as installed except for the wireless network so I downloaded all 3 wireless network drivers from Acer's site:

Only the Atheros installed but still does not work, the Device ID for the Atheros is:
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_04281468&REV_01

help?

The PCI Database is down so I can't do a search using the Vendor ID or the device number, Mike.
When you open device manager, do you have any bangs or did the Atheros driver install correctly?

If the driver installed correctly and you have no bangs in the DM, the wireless card is probably bad.

I've run into this a lot lately with both Acer and Dell. I've purchased a few of these lately for convenience sake. They work well.

No bangs in DM Cindy. The Atheros driver shows as installed. Strangest thing though, this unit came originally with Vista, the owner had installed win7 and the wireless was working perfectly before vista was reinstalled so it shouldn't be the card at fault?

The double pc icon shows but not with the "flowers". I want to see if there is a way to get this working again before going back to win7. I am suspecting the driver at fault because the dvd was also working perfect with win7 and now doesn't show as clear and I had to install codes for it work in the first place.

Hi ! I usually don't recommend this program to members. The best place to get drivers is always from the manufacture. The problem is if the PC is a older model the manufacture may not have the latest up date. I have had really great success with this program here at Golden Oaks. If your wireless isn't working any way, you might give it a try. It has a back up feature that allows you to restore the original driver. The program has some good reviews.
Slim Drivers.

ok thanks, will look into it. This doesn't make sense, why would win7 work to perfection and not the vista which was what this unit came with?

Computers are very strange animals. Sorry I don't have a good answer for you! They seem to have a mind of their own!
Good luck!!
