I tried modifying what boots up through msconfig, but when I clicked on
apply, I received an error stating Access Denied and I'd have to log in as an
administrator. However, I was logged in as an administrator. I'm stumped.

Msconfig.exe attempts to modify this registry location (among others):
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
Run regedit.exe and examine the permissions to the key you're
trying to change. They may be incorrectly set.

Happens often and can generally be ignored. Your changes are being made.
Haven't really figured out the social glue as why - but it does happen on
occasion in my shop here on many client systems.
