I have an Access 2003 database application that has been in use at hundred's of client sites and has never "performed" poorly in terms of response times for searching or form opening or closing when the application is installed on any Windows operating system except Windows Server 2008 R2. I have posted this problem on Experts-Exchange.com and one of the Genius's there explained that I needed to increase the Max Buffer Size in my access application because the 64 bit operating system wasn't allowing the memory buffers to clear efficiently so the application may freeze/lock up - which it does regularly if the Max Buffer size is set to 0. If I increase the Max Buffer too much my clients often complain that they see a "System Resources Exceeded" message. I was told to increase the Max Locks as well which I did. However, while I have reduced the frequency of the "freezes", they persist. I can't be the only Access professional who has observed this behavior. Is Microsoft aware of these issues and what can be done about it?
