hi everyone,

will a 32 vista utimate go over the top of a 64 bit vista home premium?

thx for help

It is not recommended/ it may work but will only lead to big problems in the
future - a clean install is really the only option.
Backup/ save all your personal data & setting on a external device before
you install.

NO. It has to be a clean install.

Delete existing 64bit Vista partition, make a new partition, format it,
install 32bit Vista.

Instructions about doing the above are part of the installation process on
the Vista disk which you have to boot from to install..

Save all Data as it will be lost!

One plus to NO. Tried to upgrade my 32-bit XP installation with 64-bit
Ultimate disc from XP it said setup is not made for this machine, and
booting from the Upgrade disc said my key only good for Upgrade (so it
not found the 32bit installed XP). Dont wanted to mess with my 64bit XP
got by Technology Advanced Program (so not know if i would be able to
upgrade from it), so just installed Vista Ultimate without key, then
upgraded with clean install with upgrade key. (funny that Vista x64
accept itself as an upgrade base, but not the 32bit XP)

Despite the well-meaning suggestions others have offered, there is no way to
"upgrade" from a 64-bit OS to a 32-bit OS and vice versa. If you wish to
upgrade you must stay with the same 32/64 version you have during the
upgrade, otherwise you have to clean install in order to change from 32-bit
to 64-bit or 64-bit to 32-bit.

No, it won't. You're only option would be to format the hard drive and
perform a clean installation.
