after a recent windows up date allot of my 32 bit aps are failing, even the
32bit explorer failes while the 64 bit explorer runs fine, I removed the
updates but it never helped any thing

any ideas? or even where I can look will be helpful

Hello,

which update did you install ?
32 bits software use the WOW64 on 64 bits to work. That should still works,
except if your update is about the kernel maybe.

Is the operating system working as before?

its one of our Game servers in the UK, its running the following
Windows server 64bit Eval (20 days so far)
Intel Quad core e6600, 4GB 1066RAM Dual DDR2, Asus P5B motherboard, 2 320GB
SATA300 Hard drives

now when I launch Explorer 32bit it starts but cant seem to access any web
sites, it says Page cannot be found, I even tried http:// with our other
servers IP and it still cannot see any sites and 64bit explorer works fine,
and I can also connect
to the remote desktop still, every thing was working fine before the updates
and the reboot

our 32 bit FTP program seems to be failing a well it seems on but you cant
connect to it, thwe run Serv-U on that server as we dont need it for web
hosting yet, when we do get it ready for IIS I'll change back to MS FTP

the game servers are 32bit and when run they start, and just when they show
the port info and connection port they just shut off and report the error to
windows

this is what they report
____

Faulting application OFPR_SOF_Server.exe, version 1.0.0.96, faulting module
OFPR_SOF_Server.exe, version 1.0.0.96, fault address 0x0000b0b0.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
_____

my service manager FireDeamon is failing to start as well now and is
crashing constantly it reports

______

Subprocess monitoring failed due to subprocess is no longer active. The
subprocess is probably dead. Restarting the process. Error detail: N/A
_______

I do have to do some research on our game servers crashing, each use about
600MB and it seems when they all reach that they randomly fail, I think that
is a 32bit RAM issue that I'll look more into, but in the mean even Im sure
this is related to any net work port accessing by 32bit programs, if i run
32bit programs that do not access the network then they seem to work

Can you provide the updates your installed ?

Why having a 64 bits server while running only 32 bits software ?

that's why i don't see real point to have a 64 bits OS to host 32 bits
software.
Do you have an heavy memory usage ? (like 4 applications eating 2G each)

massive, they are game servers, all our servers are quad core 2s with 4GB,
each CPU has a 32bit game exe (single threaded) locked to it, each uses
600+MB of ram

you cant run 32bit OS and use PAE as its too unstable and it crashed the
apps, so its no good to us due to 2GB limits for the OS and the each app,
then it also crosses memory locaions which just kills the server totally so
64bit is all you can use to run stable

that is untlill those updates, the updates are Aug 18th or older updates for
win2k3E 64bit
(last to earlier updates)
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=921503
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=925398
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=927891
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=935966
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=938127
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=937143

so god knows what MS did to that poor server
I've had to shunt all my 64bit UK servers clients to the US in the mean time
