What's the deal with SAS please? Most times I run that on anyone's pc, it shows hundreds of tracking cookies entries, over and over and over. I am not getting why if tracking cookies is all it finds, it all can't be found on first run and also is there better software for spyware?

I don't see a way to reply to this thread
https://freepchelp.forum/t/213920/

so my comment, which can be moved into that thread is this:
I don't use SAS; if I ever used it, it was probably a decade or mor ago.

When I search for alternatives to SAS, the first one showing on several sites I looked at was Malwarebytes.
I run a paid version of MBAM on 5 computers in our home and also the free android version on 2 tablets and a smartphone.

Fortunately, I bought MBAM when the license was forever. I have 5 lifetime licenses.

Because that was posted in the malware removal forum only the thread starter and malware removal staff can reply to it.

Hi Mike,

This is one of the main bug bares with SAS.
SUPERAntiSpyware will detect tracking cookies as "Adware.Tracking Cookies" and you can choose to remove them or leave them on your system. You may turn off this feature in the Preferences >> Scanning Control of SUPERAntiSpyware should you not wish cookies to be scanned, detected and removed.

Tracking cookies are not harmful like malware, worms, or viruses, but they can be a privacy concern as most are added by 3rd party sites.
Just set your browser to Not Accept third party cookies and forget about them.
For some unknown reason SAS likes to make a big thing of Cookies.

When Nick Skrepetos ran SAS, it was a good program and was kept up to date.
But like most software programs, it got sold on..... and then just went from bad to worse.

I think this review of SAS sums it up very well:

is there better software for spyware?
There's a few good programs out there.... and all of them are better than SAS in my opinion.
Malwarebytes 3
Junkware Removal Tool
AdwCleaner
Emsisoft Emergency Kit
RogueKiller Anti-malware (Free)

All of these programs are written by or updated by Malware Removal experts. (the guys that regularly work the forums )

or even:

ESET OnlineScan

Most decent paid for AV's will detect Spyware ( or Adware as they like to call it now) but most programs don't have this option selected by default.
MalwareBytes does, as do all the other programs in the above list.

Thanks. I had always thought SAS is specifically for spyware. Since I normally run MBAM, JRT and ADW, is there any need then to run SAS?

Ok then but there should be another software which is more spyware specific? ?
AdwCleaner and Junkware Removal Tool are spyware specific.... and a lot better than SAS.
MalwareBytes, Emsisoft Emergency Kit and RogueKiller whilst not being spyware specific, they are always updated to detect and remove current Spyware threats.
Eset Online Scanner also targets Spyware.
