My Envy laptop keep switching from start page to desktop after installing Win 8.1 update.
Unable to do system restore (msg said drive was locked) Tried to do recovery from laptop and error msg registry database corrupt.
Finally, inserted recovery disk and it took my computer back to factory install. Then had to download 108 Microsoft updates one at a time, before I could go to store and download Win 8.1. Isn't there an easier way to get the 108 downloads in one service patch??
Very time consuming.
Finally have Comcast Norton installed and slowling getting updates installed.
I never made a system image of the laptop BECAUSE I depended on the system restore function. When I finally get the laptop back with software and updates installed, can I then make a usb stick on Win 8.1 update and will that work as a recovery disk? Would I still need to download all the Miocrosoft 108 updates??
I am 75 years old and need some advice. I am so old don't have time to wait for all the 108 updates!
