KB931906 CAPICOM Critical Update in XP Media Ctr --- Belarc Advisor shows
this Critical Update as Missing but MS Update doesn't produce it in List. (1)
Should I care, AND (2) what about this SP2 Update being (potentially) added
AFTER SP3 Update?

I have the Download page to obtain it Direct but would appreciate some Help
per Questions above.. Many Thanks!!

If I remember right CAPICOM is related to databases [SQL?]. Have that? Check
the KB. CAPICOM doesn't use the typical update installer, BTW.

If you try to install a SP2 update on SP3 and it doesn't like it, it should
tell you.

Not the first time Belarc said something was missing...

Thanks for Replying. Here's what the Overview says but I can't judge the
Relevance even with this verbiage:

A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Cryptographic API Component
Object Model (CAPICOM) that allows an attacker who successfully exploits this
vulnerability to take complete control of an affected system. CAPICOM can be
used as a component of a 3rd party webpage, script or application. You can
protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft.

As stated, I can DnLoad & (presumably) install from its specific page Vs.
Update mode - just don't know how to interpret/rate "3rd party webpage,
script or application re: "this potential attacker" invasion. Thanks again.
