Mike,
When Windows cannot install there are normally 4 hardware reasons...bad hard drive, bad, media, bad dvd drive, bad memory. The same follows for Recovery Partitions though they are more than likely indicating a bad drive with failure to work.
"Does that immediately tell you that there is more than one problem?" No the first set of code is what Windows perceives as the error, what follows is where the error occurs.
Cindy it was more true in the early days of 64 bit when there just were no drivers for some components. Still happens occasionally with a mouse though I never install mouse or keyboard software unless the keyboard has power keys. Same way with programs. We install 32 bit versions of Firefox or Chrome because there are no 64 bit versions.
Mike actually that is too much coincidence for me. There is more wrong than all that as I think the board is bad.
Your next step is to forget about the recovery partition because the drive could be bad also. Try installing Vista with a Windows dvd
and I would bet you will have just as much trouble. Then try with a new hard drive and if that doesn't work the board is bad.
That's the way I would play it.
Well wait a minute there are exceptions. Cindy is 100% correct however if there isn't a 64 bit version of the driver then and only then will a 32 bit driver work.
N3 I strongly urge you to forget the somewhat unknown browsers, my experience with Pale Moon is showing me they don't have the versatility or the broad spectrum solutions FF and Chrome do even though they may seem to be more stable. The issues I was having with FF seemed to be major things like flash player or java issues that went unnoticed for countless new versions of FF. When I got to Pale Moon and had only the one issue which is pdf treatment I decided I could live with that but now I have bank statements I have to close and reopen in Chrome to see a check kin and then I stay there because its dumb to go back and forth. But now I am seeing sites I cannot buy things on and have no trouble in IE. But IE bothers me # 1 because it is such a giant target and the fact that while it has the addons now where Adblock Plus is available along with WOT and Last Pass, in order to work they all want to be in startup so I wind up slowing the whole pc down in order to use the plugins in IE. Without them the IE password saver and adware or popup prevention is the worst of any browser I have ever tried and I just feel the stiffness of an unchanging look and unbending gui that I find extremely boring and in my way a lot.
I dislike the looks of Chrome more than any of them but I can design my own themes and in a way not having all the "crap" bars gives you the most space to browse in but I find it awkward getting to all the settings yet I was quite used to it before so I am sure I will be again.
I just think there are way too many flaws in Pale Moon and Firefox gets really buggy just when I settle in and get used to it again.
I may have spoken too soon...all of a sudden I am having video driver issues and am starting to question R7 card...I know somewhere Catch you were planning to buy this one or the R9 and I would hold up. I am getting the occasional video driver stalled or quit type error or recovered from error and last night it happened 10 times in a row so this AM I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver which we both know probably will do nothing. I looked to see if there are any Omega drivers for ATi cards but they don't work with this new series. I am also having audio sound issues and am thinking of moving my video card to the bottom Pci-x slot so I can put my Creative card in the pci-x slot underneath the video card which right now is uselessly blocked. I may do that later this AM because the sound was also going in and out last night on me trying to listen to some music.
I am starting to have more and more issues with Pale Moon. Today I couldn't open any pdfs again which happens every once in a while and I also had java issues on my broker site. I am about ready to go back to Chrome again.
For one thing N3 it is never a good idea to have folders on your desktop. It slows down the bootup and drags down the system.
But I see no reason what browser you use should have anything to do with that performance.
Ok I can accept that but what does having a touch screen monitor do for you? I just don't get it. I guess its like wireless keyboards. I don't understand why I would take my keyboard across the room away from my system? Even if I had the mouse with it. I mean I have 20/20 and couldn't see the screen from my couch. Why put finger prints all over a screen? Is it because it saves plugging in a mouse. Ever tried using a virtual keyboard?
Never heard of either Evo or the class of item and for the life of me I don't see any value to it. I have touch screen laptops and PCs and never use the touch screen ability because I wind up spending more time cleaning it than its worth. A cell phone or tablet I understand having that.
Yes N3 it has every addon FF does + more. I use WOT, Adblock Plus, Mouse Gestures, LastPass but when you look at it you won't see much familiar. The address bar is also search bar like IE and all the way on the right you will see either a "wrench" or a box with 4 parallel lines and all the settings you are looking for are in that.
Interesting where on earth did you get this? Maybe it is some kind of custom build?
Can you use SIW or some hardware checking software maybe we can learn what the motherboard is?
I mean I would bet it can go to at least 2 gb ram but more than that we would need to know the motherboard.
