  1. me neither......I am starting to feel funny that I never shop in the stores who are being hacked.
  2. Well I sure agree with you on keeping desktop empty Bob but having a Recycle Bin on taskbar you can't empty means nothing to me.
  3. ooh now I am back on track thanks for this.
  4. Right and it is something that has always been done anyway. The whole point of releasing this isn't for you its for tehir benefit finding issues they haven't found.
  5. You know I am just so annoyed with their direction I think I might do better finally learning how to run Linux or break down and buy a Mac. I just don't care about Windows any more the more I think about it, time I move to Apple. I really love my iPhone. I bought a Windows tablet and have used it 3 times and find myself doing more and more on my iPhone and wish I had bought an iPad which maybe should be my next step.
  6. I guess I really do need to look at this thing though I dread it.
  7. Sounds super heavy start menu to me then. I have always used power keys on keyboards and fkeys for most of my most common programs so my desktops have very little on them so I can see what I am looking at and best utilize the full screen. I just don't understand why I would want to work opposite to that. And cluttered desktops have always mean slower boo time because all that has to be ready to go before Windows is free to move.
  8. That's right Bob I remember reading that and actually that will cost us more in the long run than buying the OS and having it last for 3 years. the thing is what happens for them if more people move on to Open Office or Word Perfect. I for one only own office because my clients use it but my own projects I have always used Word Perfect and have no intention of changing anyway. You know one thing I have noticed over the years is about 98% of my clients use Ms Word but if they were to buy only what they use Word is all they would buy. This could be a great opportunity for open source programs I think.
  9. Welcome Dougie.
  10. Well the default is certainly not what was promised and is a huge turnoff form me even though it appears you can alter it. I wonder of the Start Menu third party choices will remain in use here preferable. Sure looks it to me but I am not about to play with this thing yet anyway.
  11. It was always fact that a wired connection was much faster than wireless up until the introduction of 300N. Unfortunately it it still theory as we have never fully utilized the capability off 300N and probably won't before the next increase is launched and many of the reasons are quoted above.
  12. Wow it sounds hard to believe that Ms would be that stupid to offer it as an update to a working final version OS. It's a shame you had to spend all that time Dougie.
  13. Not that I remember Dougie, next to "Search Forums" I have always seen "Mark Forums Read" on one side and "Watched Forums" on the right. I wonder if that is the case as a guest where "new posts" is probably not listed.
  14. It is hard to believe Microsoft is making plans to give up the income....though there still would be a potential stream of income from remaining unchanged but doesn't this really fly in the eyes of technology meaning change? I am also not sure why they fell this is the course they must take either as Windows is and always will be a total monopoly and is in no real danger of losing that status.
  15. It actually really does sound like the hard drive is the problem.
