  1. 1. Having to call the movie theater to find out what time the movie you wanted to see was playing. Then finding out — after listening to the entire recording — that the movie isn’t even playing at that theater. 2. Taking your film to be developed and discovering that 99% of the pictures were blurry and no good. And then immediately ripping them for fear that someone would see the awful pictures of you. 3. Turning on the TV Guide Channel right after the channel’s listing you wanted to see had already scrolled. Then having to go dig out the newspaper from the garbage can so that you could look it up — if you didn’t want to wait for the listings to scroll all the way around again. 4. Looking up a listing in the phone book only to find out it’s not in there. “Oh wait, duh, this phone book is three years old. WHY DO WE STILL HAVE IT?!” 5. Finally taping that song you liked off the radio only to have it ruined by the DJ who began talking before the song ended. “Yes, I am well aware of the station I’m listening to, but thanks for the loud reminder.” 6. Or when you tried to download a song and it took hours just to get ONE SONG. “Well, I’m glad I waited an hour and half to get a crappy-sounding version of ‘No Scrubs’!” 7. When Internet Explorer crashed. “NO, I DON’T WANT TO ‘SEND ERROR REPORT’!” 8. Finding out you had no blank VHS tapes a few minutes before the show you wanted to record started. And having an immediate Sophie’s Choice moment: “Do I want to tape over last week’s Friends?!” 9. Turning on The Weather Channel to get the local forecast, but having to wait a while because they were showing the national forecast. “Who cares about the weather in the Southwest? I live in the Northeast and need to know if I’m going to have a snow day tomorrow!” 10. Having to make a call from a disgusting pay phone — and making sure you had change to make the call. Of course, there was always just one pay phone and some jerk hogging it up by having an hour-long conversation on it. 11. When TRL cut your favorite music video six seconds in and replaced it with screaming tweens. “Thanks, I’m glad Sarah from West Virginia got to scream into the camera, but I wanted to see the entire video for Jimmy Eat World’s ‘The Middle.’” 12. Finding out the night before a report is due that Encarta did not have any information on the subject matter you needed. And then immediately praying that the old encyclopedias in the basement had it. 13. Waiting in line for hours to get tickets for a concert. And then almost having a meltdown when the Ticketmaster guy handed out randomly assigned wristbands and the person who showed up last got to go to the front of the line. 14. When you put on your favorite video and realized it wasn’t rewound. “Doesn’t anyone remember to rewind?!” 15. Or when you went to rent a video at Blockbuster and they didn’t have any more copies of the movie you wanted. “Ugh, I guess I’ll rent Honey I Blew Up the Kid, again!” 16. Having to buy an entire album for ONE SONG. Universal Music Universal Music Fifteen dollars down the drain ‘cause Aqua couldn’t release a CD single of “Barbie Girl.” 17. Lending your friend a CD and getting it back all scratched. “What the hell were you doing with this CD? Did you let your cat use it as a toy?! You owe me $15!” 18. Getting lost with the printed-out directions you got from MapQuest. “According to this map, that road should be running over where this lake is located.” 19. Having to watch scrambled porn. Yes kids, this was a thing. =( http://www.buzzfeed.com/briangalindo/19-frustrating-things-todays-kids-will-never-experience?&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=BuzzFeed+24&utm_content=BuzzFeed+24+CID_2d5a4bc3ad1f169c7765efe8d9638a79&utm_source=Campaign%20Monitor&utm_term=Man%20those%20werent%20the%20days#.glPdzYrwL
  2. Welcome to Free PC Help Forum, FrogBoy. We are happy to have you!
  3. Nope, it's not you.
  4. Search Everything is a great program. It's something I have been using for years. DSTM recommended it to me and I have it on all my computers.
  5. Microsoft was left alone as the last manufacturer of Windows RT-based tablets, and now the software giant is no longer producing any RT devices. A Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed to The Verge that the company is no longer manufacturing its Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet. "We are no longer manufacturing Nokia Lumia 2520; however, those still eager to buy Nokia Lumia 2520 should visit Microsoft Retail Stores, MicrosoftStore.com, third-party retailers and resellers for the latest availability." The confirmation comes just a week after Microsoft revealed it has stopped manufacturing the Surface 2, another Windows RT tablet. While Lenovo, Asus, Samsung, and Dell backed Windows RT initially, all of the tablet makers pulled out due to slow sales and a lack of interest from consumers. It appears that Microsoft’s experiment with ARM-based tablets has largely failed in a tablet market that is starting to show signs of slowing down. A lack of touch-based apps, a confusing desktop mode, and odd naming made Windows RT a bizarre trial for Microsoft. Most PC makers have opted for Intel-based chips in 7- and 8-inch Windows tablets recently. All eyes are now on Windows 10. Microsoft has shown some features of Windows 10 for phones, but it’s not clear if we’ll see 7- and 8-inch ARM-based Windows 10 devices. A preview version of Windows 10 for tablets is designed for 8-inch devices and above, and Microsoft is not commenting on its plans for future ARM-based tablets. With Surface 2 dead and Surface revenue improving thanks to stronger Surface Pro 3 sales, it’s clear Microsoft is now focused on its "professional" Intel-based tablet. Windows RT is now a distant memory. http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/3/7974759/windows-rt-is-dead
  6. I just rechecked it and it actually starts on Page 25 - Post 486 with the X instead of the picture.
  7. No, I just checked. That's all I can see as well.
  8. Years ago, Microsoft had it's own reg cleaners which were discontinued from XP and on.
  9. I don't use any registry defraggers. IMHO, it's almost always better to compress the registry hives to a normal state rather than defrag them. I don't think you see any real performance improvement, especially in the later version of Windows after using registry defragmenters. I am always very careful when dealing with anyone's registry, which is why I do use Erunt as a registry backup. I think it's too easy to brick a computer when messing with the registry. (That's just my opinion.) Others may disagree.
  10. I've used Erunt many times to back up a registry but never to defrag or optimize it.
  11. I just downloaded it. I'll have to play around with it for a bit.
  12. I haven't used Speed Fan in a while. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
  13. I'm sorry Donetao but I had to remove CCleaner because it has a registry cleaner with it and we don't recommend registry cleaners. I've used the rest of the programs that you list. The software that I use the most from your list is Who Crashed, Search Everything, Revo and Belarc. My two favorites are Search Everything and Revo.
  14. Fears about software incompatibilities and performance (though early tests suggest it is every bit as quick as Windows 7) will always alienate a proportion of users. Others simply do not like change, but arguably such groups were never going to upgrade no matter what Microsoft did. For everyone else, moving to Windows 10 becomes a no brainer – a free upgrade with seamless install experience. The size of this market? According to the latest figures Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 account for nearly 70% of all PCs in the world (including Apple Mac and Linux). Windows 10 on laptop and smartphone – image credit Microsoft Read more – Microsoft Attacks Microsoft: Why Windows 10 Gets It Right Combine this with the fact that Windows 10 will also be sold by default on every new Windows PC and laptop and Microsoft is set to experience unprecedented upgrade levels when Windows 10 is released around Q3. In fact wider adoption could start sooner. Microsoft has also confirmed all Technical Previews of Windows 10 will automatically upgrade to the full consumer release version without any loss of data. Do note that during its beta period Windows 10 comes with major privacy considerations, but Microsoft has already confirmed over one million Technical Preview users. A number that looks set to skyrocket. The comeback is beginning to look irresistible. http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/02/02/windows-10-automatic-install/2/

  15. Bob is going to add a Tutorial or Resource area. It's on his to do list. I actually think the PSR has the potential to make great tuts.
  16. It looks awesome, Gary. It would make a good tutorial.
  17. One thing I use to play around with a lot was the PSR. I had completely forgotten about it until Gary brought up the Reliability monitor. They were two of the features I liked when we were testing Windows 7.
  18. I just closed the current window, opened a new one and the sign disappeared.
  19. :geek: Thanks for letting us know, Bob.
  20. There are some known issues with Windows 8/8.1 and pale moon in versions prior to 24.6.0. What version of pale moon are you using and what is your OS? Have you tried running with all add on's disabled or in safe mode?
  21. Yes, but at least they cant stray if they are in carriers.
