  1. Any application like Trend Micro Internet security, Panda, Norton can post a dialog box for news or notification that you need to do a scan, etc and when this happens it pulls me back to the desktop while in 3D mode. This primarily applies to gaming. Is there anyway to configure windows not to do task switching while in 3d mode?
  2. Anyone have a suggestion for either preventing (read only) or resetting the home page after login (ie domain scripts have finished running)? I need google.com always, period, no ifs ands or buts -> google.com. Instead of giving in to the Domain admins use of login scripts, what are my options?
  3. ya definately a great card. I only had 128mb on my 9800pro as well.
  4. That sale didn't even last 24hours.
  5. I jumped on this one for $350 even + Free Ground shipping. http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=190144&AFFIL=pg&NR=1 I have bought two other products from this company so I can atest that the company is ok by me.
  6. The cheapest I'm seeing the 6800gt is for $368, which to me is still too expensive. PNY 6800gt Its unforntunate the availability for the x8xx series ATI cards still sucks. I feel that at least there'd be more competition to drive the 6800gt's price down. I've had enough of ATI's poor PR myself, but I'm still reluctant to pay these premiums. Who knows if it will ever drop to <$300.
  7. Yes, because I have a set of PC4000 (DDR500) ram and an IC7-MAX3 which is not being complimented by a P3.0E processor. Well, at least not on my platform as a whole. I limited my cooling investment to water and since the overclocked prescott's amperage consumption is so high its also calling for a new PS.
  8. Was a P3.4C Northwood socket 478 produced? The 3.2C seems to be the max. In my searches I am finding the processors that appear to be these are actually Prescotts.
  9. are you still running those 4.7 omega drivers? I'm having issues with tearing on EQ2 beta and WOW was doing it during the stress test. I set vsync on with 1280x1024@120hz. I'm considering blowing out the ATI 4.10 install and trying other drivers. I dont think I had good performance with the latest omegas.
  10. I didn't actually get to see the dump information, but You may want to look for hotfixes such as these and try the various things they mention: http://www.kbalertz.com/kb_839635.aspx
  11. Oh if I can help it Ill be running this thing in 2006 and im sure ill go through a few video cards. My last computer was a Celeron 1gz on a Asus TUA-266. I never did get around to buying the Tualatin =). Its still priced at $200+. The 9800 is a good card dont get me wrong. It hasn't been cutting the mustard for running a large monitor due to it requiring higher resolutions and in turn at least some level of AA is needed due to the jaggyness around 3D objects. I find that AA 4x cleans things up nicely and can play some of my games ok with those settings. Its recently gotten better on the new Omega drivers (ATI 8.07 beta drivers). I run games at 1280x1024 so thats not too incredible of a demand. This seems to compliment the size while saving font readability.
  12. I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything on whether there would be any more video card chipsets released for the AGP architecture. To me it seems unlikely another chipset would release given the switch over to PCI-X. Personally, I'm not worried about going LGA-775, DDR2, and PCI-X because I dont even max out the computer that I have. The video card seems to be the most important factor to me. I believe I'm simply trying to avoid sinking XXX dollars in the x800xt if its not going to be the highest end for AGP. This could be one of those rare occasions, but if not, I'd rather wait it out with my 9800pro. We all know you cant wait too long with today's technology, look how long it takes a good product to hit large availability these days and next thing you know Half Life 4 is out and you cant run it on your x15000xt.... The bottom line is when WoW releases the x800xt is purchased if nothing else can fit the bill :) P3.0E (stock) - Koolance Exos Abit IC7-MAXIII 1gb OCZ PC4000 EL GOLD 22" NEC MultiSync FP2141SB Sapphire 9800Pro Audigy 2 ZS - games, Realtek AC97 used for TS2 and vent. 2-74gb WD Raptors RAID-0 and some more of the usual
  13. I wanted to say thanks for the suggestion. I totally ignored the fact that I had onboard sound because its been disabled for so long. I've tested for stability after having two sound card drivers installed and haven't had any problems. I can record and playback my voice on the onboard channels in teamspeak or vent while playing music/games on the other channel so that tells me that things are good to go, I just haven't gotten around to setting up a session yet :) I was surpised with the little amount of feedback with the cheapo headset that I do have, but I am going to still pick up a .Audio 50 for its voice clarity features. It will probably be easier to use/tune in this type of environment. BTW, you saved me about $40.00 :D
  14. I'm exploring the idea of getting the voice data for Ventrillo or Teamspeak 2 to play seperate of the game sound, ie. voice goes to headset, game sound goes to the surround sound. I already have a sound card. A headset like the Plantronics DSP-100 Digitally-Enhanced USB Headset has a built in soundcard so I think logically I could tell vent or ts2 to use that particular I/O channel while the game uses the default sound device (installed sound card). I'd like to hear from somone that has already done this or perhaps theres a problem that I haven't thought of.
  15. ya exactly. Well I tried playing around with alt-tab and it would always minimize the game and go to the main display which defeats the purpose. I dont really see anything in the way of a hotkey either. This would be a nice feature.
