Help with a faulty PC, no video!
All I know is that it has been repaired before, so that takes away the monitor as a possible cause, I even tried two other monitors with no luck. It makes no HD noises and no beeping at all, and I tried booting with the XP cd and the pc wont respond. As I said, there is no POST from BIOS, just starts the fan and the front panel lights normally. But it sends absolutely no signal to the monitor.

This computer has been repaired before but I have no clue what has been done to it. What are the following steps to determine the cause of the problem? could be BIOS? thanks in advance.

Trouble with XP
Hello everyone, I want to reformat my entire computer and install a fresh copy of XP. I have already installed XP on one of my two HDDs, what should I do? I have done this: Tried to install XP on the second HDD and format the first one, but the original windows folder wont go away with format c:, I believe its because of some read only files, I want to wipe everything, how can I achieve this the best way possible?

WinXP administrator user account
Hello all, I just recently discovered another of win XP pro's*features*. A few weeks ago I installed a fresh copy of win XP in my new machine. Everything went smoothly I must say, the installer prompted me to set the password for the Administrator accout. So I started using it, I was the only user so no problems there. Until a few days ago when I wanted to create another account. I had to create first another account with administrator rights, which I did, but to my surprise, at the welcome screen the Adminstrator account disappeared leaving me with only the new account! My images, music, firefox's bookmarks and everything are in the other Adminstrator account! how can I enter with this account at the welcome screen? Has enyone faced the same situation? edit: got it, doing some registry work...

Mouse Not Detected Sometimes
Hey guess what, I upgraded the BIOS and Im still having the same problem, now, it seems some kind of prank, I do a cold boot, mouse not working, hot boot after that, mouse working, need to install something that requires reboot, mouse not working, reboot again after that, mouse working. Now, It seems that we have an on and off situation here, its really annoying, any suggestions?

Mouse Not Detected Sometimes
Hello everyone, cheers for this new look, its really cool! I have a Q regarding the serial PS2 mouse I have. Sometimes, when I do a cold boot (usually after 20 hrs of inactivity) WinXP doesnt recognizes the mouse! the cursor is there, but I cant move it! What I do is to do a Restart and then WinXP Pro does recognizes the mouse.... This happens once in while, but its really annoying...anyone has a clue why this happens? I dont unplug the mouse at any time..

How much for this hardware
Well they guy claimed he had a special insiders deal with a local wholesaler and that the finale quotation for that was around $1000USD, I said he was nuts but I had to check with the prices in the US, so there is no chance even with a big wholesaler afterall? I also think its rubbish since those prices are yet to be blunted in the border.... thanks for the replies guys!

How much for this hardware
Hello everyone, I have now a $$ related question, how much would it cost in the us to buy this getting distribuitor prices...? 1 x 1 GB kingston RAM (maybe 2 dimms) 1 x P4 3.6 (with the MHz value to the max) 2 x HDD (250GB and 120 GB) (western digital) 1 x MB intel at 800MHz 1 x 17'' generic monitor 1 x Video card 256MB Nvidia (cant recall the model) 1 x CD rom-burner/dvd burner/dvd viewer (generic) you think its possible to get this for less than 1000 USD? I say this cause I live outside the US therefore is cheaper than were I live...

Cant see 2nd HD
Hello all, I just assembled my first PC, the instalation went smoothly just for one little detail, I can see in the Device Manager window that I have 2 HDs, but I can only see the one I formatted during instalation in My PC. I think the second HD is not formatted so thats maybe why I cant see it, or is it due I connected the HD to the top connector in the IDE cable and leaving the middle connector alone? (the config of the jumpers in the HD is set to 'master') I think this is probably a dumb Q but I've never encounter such issues!
