Win XP and AOL 9
Did the uninstall and found that the simple tcp/ip wasn't checked in add/remove components. Also took aol off and just have the AIM on now. Took everything out of networking and then put in the simple tcp/ip restarted computer and still not connecting .. grrrrrr...... tried lowing speed because it makes the handshake then dies. But if I load Aol back on it connects just fine. Been in and out of add/remove programs going to call manufacturer (its still under warranty and only 2 months old) See if they have any bright ideas. Might just start over.... Let ya know how it goes, if you have any other ideas please let me know. thanks this one has me boggled.

Need Help Please!!
If they ran it for 6 hours with no problem did they play the games or just let it sit...............? Also did you take the whole computer or just the tower? If only the tower then it does narrow it down. Ya think....

Also remember you MIGHT need your Win98 CD for rebuilding of drivers. Most times though Win98 has the cabs on the computer.

Here is what should be in there delete the rest let it rebuild drivers. Might need to uninstall dialer then reinstall after you rebuild drivers. Client for Microsoft Network Dial-up Adapter Network of Xircom 10/100 Network+56K Modem PC Card TCP/IP -> Dial-up Adapter TCP/IP -> Network of Xircom 10/100 Network + 56K Modem PC Card Just those 5 things. Good luck

Win XP and AOL 9
It wasn't in Network connections. It doesn't show a dialer for AOL at all but dials up ok to AOL. When create new dialer in Network connections it still doesn't work......... Do I take the tcp/ip off computer then reinstall it thru Add/Remove Programs Installed components?? I am asking for a friend still getting use to XP and I don't have AOL and my XP works fine...... I think I am going to play with AOL9 and my XP when I get a few days off to see if maybe they have something I didn't see. sorry If I am a bother.

If you are sure you do not have a network card yes none of those should be there except the 3, I mentioned. You could delete/remove them and let network rebuild drivers to see if that works. Then go from there.

What's wrong with my MSN.com website?

Have you gone to the Network in Control Panel and check what the components installed are. Should, if you have a Network card, only have 5 things in there. Client for Microsoft Network, dialup adapter, 10/100 eithernet card adapter(they have different names) tcp/ip > dialup adapter and tcp/ip > 10/100 eithernet card. If not network card then only 3 things inside Client for Microsoft Network, dialup adapter, tcp/ip > dialup adapter. First try to jog the Network settings by going into the tcp/ip > adapter properties. Should get window about changing tcp/ip settings say ok then click on the Wins Configuration tab at top and make sure that the wins resolution is disabled. Say ok and then ok to Network box. Should rebuilt drivers for your networking. If this doesn't work delete connection go to Add/remove programs and Click on tab at top in middle Click the communications tab and take check out of Dialup networking and apply and ok. Computer should restart. Go back to Add/remove programs and put dialup networking back and let computer restart. Then go to Network rebuild drivers by adding them Make sure all are there and then check the tcp/ip settings as stated above. Let computer restart then remake connection.- Some Sites Open, Some Sites Won't??
Also you would want to check to see if your security level in internet options is at a default level. Sometimes it can stop you also from reaching some sites, along with a firewall that is not configured properly to let you go to those sites as mentioned prior. If you are running an anti-virus program thru your email can time out from that. Disable email scanning and see if it works then. As long as autoprotect is on then you will be protected if virus is in email. Hopefully your problem is already fixed.- Win XP and AOL 9
I have WinXP and AOL 9. I took the free 3 months of service now when I tried to get local ISP it will dial but times out. It connects fine to AOL. Had Norton Fire Wall but did uninstall this and all of Nortons stuff and made sure my firewall for XP was disabled and still not connecting to local ISP but able to connect to AOL. Uninstalled AOL and still unable to connect. Are the adapters for AOL somehow interferring?? Where do you find them? Can't find AOL dialer??? help me please. Appreciate it.- Ftp
You should contact your carrier to see if they are blocking it if you haven't already solved the problem. - connecting
