  3. hi I've been thinking about getting a new server for a while now and I need some suggestions on what I should get (What processor, how much RAM, ...). I'm going to probably run Windows 2000 Server on it and use it for a few small web sites (PHP and MySQL), IRC, Mail, and as a file server (for a network of 5-10 machines). Any suggestions would be apprechiated
  4. Anybody have any other ideas as to why it is doing this ?
  5. thanks Bob I reseated the memory stick but that didn't seem to fix it, I hope it isn't broken.
  6. I've had this problem for the past 2 or 3 days, everytime I start up IE I get a memory error (see pic). I'm running Windows XP Pro with IE 6 I've done all of the updates Uninstalled the Google Search bar Ran 2 Spy\Adware finding apps Removed and added IE again But nothing seems to have helped, I do not get the error when I use the file explorer only when I use the Internet Explorer. Thanks
  7. Ok after talking to a few people (on IRC and offline), I think I have figured it out. Thanks to everybody that gave me suggestions.
  8. Never Mind I think I found what I needed, Windows Media Services. But I still have one problem now, the encoder let's me do this: Client connects to Computer with Camera but I need to do it like this: Computer with camera sends to server, Client Connects to Server It seems like Windows Media Services 9 does that but it only comes with Windows 2003, could anybody sheed some light on this for me please. Thanks alot
  9. Hi I have been asked to look into what the best way to stream video would be. I'm looking to stream it as close to real time as possible through a broadband line. I would like to have it the same speed and quality as CSPAN web broadcast. Anybody with any ideas please post them Thanks
  10. hmm, does this happen if you leave an app open for a long time and then close it or does it just happen totaly randomly ?
  11. I'm Chris, 16, from Northeast Ohio (about 15 miles west of cleveland). I'm a Sophomore (10th) in High School, I'm trying to take all the computer classes I can but since I'm going to a rather small high school (about 1100 students) there aren't any upperlevel computer classes (it doesn't get much past MS Office). I'm probably going to study Computer Science in college. Most of the things I know about computers I have thought my self or learned from my dad. I got my first computer when I was about 3 or so, my dad was getting a new one and thought it would be a good learning tool for me to have the old one. My newest computer is a P4 2.56 512MB RAM 60GB HD 128MB Radeon 9000, primary use for the computer is for gaming. I have 2 other desktops, one being used as a server (HTTP, IRC, FTP and Mail) while the other is my main workstation, and a laptop (old AST P100) that I use. Currently there are 15 or so machines running on our Windows and Novell Network. EDIT: Noticed a mistake and added some info
  12. Yeah that's great :) Then I can finnaly shut mine down again :D
  13. I have a Radeon 9000 128MB and when I pull up the menu to select the spawn point the menus come up very slowly and are distorted. Upgrading to DX9 hasn't had any effect on that game though for me. What kind of graphic card do you have excaliber ?
  14. I personaly have a Radeon 9000 but mine does the same, to enable it I have to go into Display Properties > Advanced and then there is an option to enable the output. Give that a try
  15. hmm ok Thanks for replying I just hate to reboot my server becouse it is a bit old and some times it takes a few minutes to boot up totaly. Plus I'm running an IRC server and I don't want to be constantly be taking it down to reboot. Anybody else have any ideas why this is happening and how I can permanently fix it
