  1. I would run Chkdsk on the drive before I did anything. I installed W7 on a computer today and the mouse wouldn't work. I pulled the disc out 3 times and reinserted and all of a sudden the mouse worked again. Don't ask me why. What is the origin of the install disc you are using?
  2. I put 95% of my desktop shortcuts in a folder in "My Pictures" Also I had some folders containing many images on the desktop.Moved those off the desktop Disabled all programs in MSCONFIG.
  3. Got my boot times down lower.
  4. Hi Mike. Short answer is NO. You need a bootable ISO exactly the same as what version that is installed on the computer.
  5. I make mistakes all the time. I am allowed to at my age.
  6. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it, Kick.
  7. £160 equals $202.70 AUD or $257.42 US Pete.
  8. I will check tomorrow, Rich. Best thing I bought for the latest build was the Tower ( Coolmaster HAF X ) Brilliant and so much space. Like the Sata Docks in the front cover. Don't have to take the side panel off as much.
  9. I ended up opting for a Radeon HD 7800 series Sapphire/PC Partner instead as I only Photoshop and never play games. Some things are reasonable here and some very expensive compared to the US. A galaxy GTX780 TI 3GB5 HOF Super OC costs $799. Must be cheaper in the US surely.
  10. I just installed VLC and didn't need a Plug in to play fine with FireFox 33.0.1 I didn't run the Add-Ons manager.
  11. Also this video may be a help with the basics as well to give you some idea what's involved.
  12. You set a low benchmark to try and equal, Cindy. This is the best I can get out of my New Rig. The one I built before this one the best Boot Speed I can get is 17sec+
  13. I read this from their site. " The first engine (E1) is a creation of Emsisoft’s, the second one (E2) has been in use since we released Emsisoft Anti-Malware 7.0 and Emergency Kit 3.0 and comes from BitDefender. BitDefender is known for its very good detection rate as well as displaying few false alerts, which is why we use this third-party engine "
  14. A R280 card here costs $700+. Out of the question price wise.
  15. Thanks Cindy. I have done everything I can think of to make my boot time quicker. I will take a screen shot of the time. I think my Desktop may be slowing boot time. Not sure.
  16. Just wondering how my boot up times in Windows7 compare to you Guys. I downloaded BootRacer to check an accurate boot time. http://www.greatis.com/bootracer/download.htm What are your Boot Times?
  17. In the test Emsisoft blocked 96.3% and gave 9 fake positives while Qihoo blocked 99.5% and no Fake positives. I know which one I would choose if I needed a new AV. Remember they are all on a level playing field so results are real. I am more than happy with ESET
  18. If I could add, untick the "Trial" Box for the paid version when installing Malwarebytes, Joe and Welcome from myself also.
  19. Exactly. Couldn't agree more. Macro photography is an exception.
  20. I wouldn't use 2 drives in one bracket. I like to space my drives for max cooling. I am trying an Intel SSD in my new build. So far so good.
  21. Reinstalled and working again. Thanks Cindy.
  22. Thinking about it I may have put the key in one of my notepads. Will check.
  23. I did have Nod32 once upon a time.
  24. Based on those test results, what are your thoughts as to the best AV?
  25. September AV-Comparatives are out for those interested. http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php
