  1. One option to try is to insert the disk while in windows and select an upgrade install if it gives you that option. If it doesn't then the only thing you could do is to reinstall.
  2. Even with a clean drive Windows still has to partition and format. That is the first option because you have to create and activate a partition for install.
  3. I can't find any information about cleanmru.exe. Maybe you mistake the file name? However check this page out: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.brid.a@mm.html regedit.exe is a valid XP system file, however, Regedit.exe, notice the capital R is related to the above worm. I would do a full system scan at one of the free online scanner resources. Don't trust the scanner you have installed. Many worms and virus will disable or cripple whatever you use.
  4. Restrcit by IP. Select allow only those on the list and add the IP of each client.
  5. There are tools like memtest to test memory and some disk utilities to diagnose disk problms, but, there is no one stop tool to check a computer. You think by now someone would have come up with something like thas wouldn't you?
  6. Are you using a rewritable disk?
  7. My wife was having the same problem with her Dell. It turned out the boot oreder in bios was wrong. Check the boot order in bios and make sure it is set to cdrom > hd > floppy. Also make sure you don't have a floppy in the drive.
  8. See this for more information and removal instructions. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.cydoor.html
  9. Better to ask at http://geekydesigns.com or at http://vbulletin.org.
  10. Remove the entries from boot.ini for the systems you want to remove. after that just delete the folder that windows is installed in. Take care to remove the correct entries or you'll have to use the repair console to fix it.
  11. Very easy to do. First right click the taskbar and select unlock the taskbar. You'll see the seperater for your taskbar icons. Click and hold it and move over to the right a bit to make room for the new icon. Now click and drag the icon from the desktop to the taskbar. Done. You can also drag program icons from the programs folder, from the start menu, text files or anything else you want quick access to by using the same method.
  12. Sounds like a MTU issue on one of the routers on you LAN or on the WAN. If MTU is set lower that 1496 then packets fragment and large uploads and downloads won't complete. What kind of connection do you have to the internet? What kind of routers do you use on the LAN?
  13. Howdy joe and greetings from Illinois.
  14. Hello and welcome.
  15. Welcome and thank you.
  16. Welcome and nice to meet you.
  17. Open a command box and cd to the temp folder. Once there try this command. del *.dat
  18. If you have XP you need to have at least SP1 installed to use the whole disk. The limitation isn't in the bios it is in the operating system.
  19. Howdy Lou.
  20. Welcome and glad to have you here.
  21. We'll help you to fix it when it breaks. Welcome.
  22. Hello and welcome.
  23. You'll need to go to the webcam manufaturer site and download the drivers for it. XP has very few drivers available for webcams so you will have to find them on the net.
