Heres an early Christmas gift to fellow niners with Windows and Linux boxes, who are looking for an easy way to access all their Windows applications andremote files when Wine-type solutions fall flat. I've packaged together a set of software components. Itprovides a seamless terminal solution for Fedora Linux users with capable Windows machines. I've made RPMs for a patched CVS-built rdesktop, included Microsoft'sElevate Power Toy for Vista, Fontis IT's enhanced SeamlessRDP server, and a small tray application and five page Readme wrote by me. Be sure to check the Readme file. System Requirements: * A computer with a version of Windows that encompasses the servercomponent of Terminal Services--Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, WindowsXP Professional, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista Business, Ultimate,or Enterprise. Note: Windows Server 2008 terminal servers are not yet supported. * At least one computer with Fedora Linux installed. Although thissoftware is capable of working on other distributions or Unix-likeoperating systems with a simple re-compile procedure, this particularpackage is designed to work with 32-bit versions of Fedora and Windows.Re-compiling the SRPM and SeamlessRDP components are necessary for64-bit machines with 64-bit operating systems. * Any sort of network or Internet connection for both the server andclient. A simple 56K modem connection would be sufficient. That said,dial-up modem support under Linux is a joke at best therefore, formost users the only options are wired Ethernet or wirelessconnectivity. The Terminal Server system may be accessed from a localor wide area network or via the Internet. Enjoy. . Download the project More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

I downloaded the trial and spent several days trying it out in various scenarios. I just thought I'd share my observations and thoughts compared to Pocket IE. These are purely subjective, unscientific, observations. Better rendering Faster rendering Slower startup Better scrolling performance on large pages Worse overall usabilityCompared to vanilla IE, the scrolling experience in Opera is much better. However, IE + TouchFlo on my Kaiser (HTC P4550)*is a great combination. You get finger scrolling, and "flick" scrolling. The one that I just the most is to plant your finger and slide it to the edge of the screen. It will continue to scroll until you pick up your finger. Want to select text? Just switch to a fingernail or stylus. Both options are always available. With Opera, you only get one option at a time, and you have to dig into the settings to switch. Also, the address bar in IE actually shows enough of the address to be useful. Opera packs too many buttons on*and doesn't show enough of the URL. I use full screen a lot. Opera doesn't have a true full screen mode. You can't hide the tool/address bar, and it's much thicker than the IE one. Who would have thought that a version of IE would end up being better at minimalism. I also had trouble getting used to the way "back" is handled. In IE it's click the left softkey once to show the UI, and again to go back with the UI switching back to full screen. In Opera it's click the left softkey once to show the UI, then again to open the Action menu, then press up four times to get to back, and then click select. Maybe the UI will switch back to full screen, if it doesn't then you have to go to the view menu and toggle it off and back on. I wanted to like Opera, I really did. In the end I went back to IE. IE on Windows Mobile has plenty of issues, but it*turns out that my browsing habits are better served by the IE's UI. Anyway, just some "I stayed up way too late" thoughts to start the weekend. I just got a new phone, a Motorola Q9c running Windows Mobile 6.0 ... and it has GPS. The GPS is awesome and I've been running Google Maps (Live Search Maps couldn't seem to find my GPS and needed me to tell it what port is was on or something... and I had no idea what to tell it) and loving it, but of course I want to code against it myself. What I want is a simple piece of sample code that just gets and displays the current co-ordinates... that's all... I can handle everything else I want to do from there, but polling the device and getting data out of it is what I'm lacking. I browsed through MSDN, I searched, I found nothing that was nice and simple ... so I turn to you folks! :) Anyone already done this, or care to point me in the right direction? More... There must be something running as admin that is causing this. Right click my computer. Select advanced tab at top. In system starup and recovery make sure automatically restart is unchecked. Next time the computer reboots a blue screen will appear with an error code. Post the error and I can troubleshoot it better.
