Since loading Adobe Reader XI, I can no longer open Skype. I get fatal error messages as follows: "This application has failed to start because odbcbcp.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." and "Failed to load library 'pdh.dll'". I have found that I am missing the odbcbcp.dll file in C:WINDOWS|System32 I have found various websites which have free download of this file but am I able to get it from Microsoft directly. I have tried navigating Microsoft webpage without success. Do I also need to do something about the "Library file"???? Please consider that I am not as computer savvy as most of you are and need simple instructions. Can someone please help??!!! Thanks View this thread

I have IE 10 with windows 7. &amp critical updates recommended however when installed IE is frozen. Sucessfully restored and then tried to update again without sucess. Updates appear to relate to IE 9 which I can't understand because IE 10 is supposed to be a complete new version. View this thread

Windows 7 32-bit + Service Pack 1. I was having problems trying to update using the Windows Update program. Each time that it was run, it crashed with the error 80244002F.I tried various solutions found, including the Windows Fixit, but nothing seemed to work. Eventually I came across the suggestion that it would work if Net framework 4 client profile were uninstalled.I tried this, did a reset, and Windows Update worked without a hitch, downloading and installing 13 updates. I ran Update again. This time it suggested one important update, which I allowed it to download and install. Unfortunatly (?) this was .... Net framework 4 client profile!Once that was installed, Windows Update no longer worked. I uninstalled it, and Windows Update worked straight away… trying to get me to install Net framework 4 client profile again!This I have not done. I now find that CorelDRAW X6 needs NF4CP to work! I am now left in the position where I either have Windows Update blocked, or a non-functioning CorelDRAW—unless, of course, I am prepared to continually uninstall before trying to update, and re-install again afterwards!Is there any way of solving BOTH problems successfully WITHOUT creating yet another problem/clash? MS Essentials detected a virus, turned out to be TrojanJS:medfos.b, ran full scan and have removed culprit.....but I continue get a popup notice telling me that a threat has been cleaned followed by No Action necessary. If I go into the history log, I see that it shows these pop ups also. Although I don't think I have the virus, the popup is annoying. I've had MS Essential for several years and not experienced this. $RECYCLE.BIN and System Volume Information are getting regenerated in c drive and other drives as well. Is it a virus? How to remove this files? I have scanned my laptop but it doesn't report any virus. View this thread

on switch on and loading windows xp the screen remains blank for about 10 secs, much longer than it used to, I think it is at this time that what ever is happening to the hdu takes place. I've gone back and checked updates on drivers and microsoft updates and nothing occured on or around the 24th april when this started. error logs , event viewers and diags say that everything is running ok but computer is running very slow, avg virus scan which normally takes 30-40 mins is taking up to 4 hours to complete. any ideas please? English version: I have installed windows 8 pro 64 bit on my pc. It has worked very well before April 2013. Than every first turning on it crashes and reboots (Driver power state failure). When I attempt to install this update on the users XP SPK3 machine, I only receive the 0x80070020 error in the event logs. However, I downloaded the actual update and attempted to install in safe mode (and also in regular mode) and received the error that ntoskrnl.exe is in use.I have run the Fix-It from Microsoft and find no difference. I am running Money 2005 with Vista. All has been well for years. I went away for a few days (it was used, without apparent problems, in my absence) and got the "Money Cannot locate.... message". I can find my file and my Money backup but neither of them will open - I get the same message. I am backed up, so I restored the Money file from before I went away (not the Money backup) and it would not open that either. I have uninstalled Money and reinstalled it. It still will not open anything. When I try to create a new file in order to install the updates to Money 2005 and I get to the point of saying I don't want to use a password I get a new error message "An unexpected error has occurred. Please try your call again. If you continue to have problems call your financial institution's online services customer support"!! This has happened twice. Can anyone kindly help? View this thread

I am still having problems with my PC freezing on start up. When I do a system restore back to 15 April, it resolves but then returns the next day, presumably when auto uploads occur. I believe the update &quotSecurity Update for Windows Vista KB 2840149&quot is causing the problem because, after a system restore, the PC works until I install this update. There is another update however, &quotNVIDIA driver update for NVIDIA GeForce 8300GS&quot which persistently fails to install despite numerous attempts. I don't know whether either of these or both of these are the root cause of my problem but would welcome advice. Kind regards, Petcow View this thread
