  8. It's been over a week and after spending hours on here I am no closer to a solution.80% of the stuff I'm reading is over my head the other 20% does not apply.I have not remapped any keys,I have no maleware, no virus no spyware.I don't need to defrag, empty cache and have plenty of free space. I also didn't get a error code. I have never had this problem before with an update and doupt it has anything to do with my PC. So how do I solve this and how will it effect any other updates that are in the works. I also downloaded the update and tried to run it from my desktop and was told I don't have permission to update windows XP and to contact administrator. I am the administrator. I tried it again a different way and got the message :Setup can not continue because one or more prerequisites required to install update failed .For more details check the logfile.Well here is the logfile and it's all greek to me. Ready to give up ...Kinda sad that microsoft doesn't step up to the plate with help but rather relies on kind hearted people in a forum. 14. I'm using Vista Home Premium and constantly reminded of 8 updates that always fail to download/install. I attempted to manually install, and the failure info states that the updates aren't compatible with my version of Windows. ???? If that's the case, why are they there? Anyway, if these particular updates aren't compatible and won't download, can they be deleted from Windows Update? View this thread
  15. I recently received a call from Danniel from R&G Windows Support phone #: 1-226-777-0091. They said they had been getting several error messages from my computer and that they needed to get access to it. That morning, I noticed that Windows Updates were looping on update 16. I turned off the computer, turned it back on and downloaded the updates manually, all was well I thought. Anyway, I was convinced that we had problems and they took command and provided us with service and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials, we paid over $300. with the credit card. Were we scammed? 21. Hi. I have a Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack allowing installation on 3 PC's. It has so far been only used on 2, though is now a couple of years old. I am seriously thinking of buying a Mac, and would like to run Windows for some non Mac software I use. If I use Parallels software would I be able to use my Windows 7 upgrade disc, which is perfectly legal and has the key, to install Windows 7 on a new Mac? TIA Paul View the thread
