Problem pasting on any document, email, etc.
I am using Windows XP and Advanced System Care Free - a program to maintain the computer. For several weeks I have not been able to paste after copying or cutting anything on any document or anyting typed on email, etc. The "PASTE" is always greyed out. Also "CNRL V" does not work. I have tried the solutions I have found online, i.e. making Clipbook is started and dependent services Network DDE and Network DDE DSDM are started, which they are with no luck. I have tried to go back to a restore point before the problem started on Windows XP and Advanced Systme Care but neither one is working - they just say "not available or something like that. I have been told by a certified Microsoft Tech on the official Microsoft site that the restore point does not work on Windows XP. The only solution I have been told I have left is to reinstall the original Windows XP operating system program from the 2003 CD. However, if I do this I will lose all the security patches and updates since then. I might have to face buying a new computer , which I may anyway since Microsoft no longer supports XP, but I would like to find a fix asap since I am a "researcher" and it will take me awhile to select a new computer. Does anyone have a fix to my problem? View this thread

default actions should be carried out automatically without exception without prompts
why are users prompted for virus removal when the admin has set default actions to remove for all alerts - regular users are not able to judge if the prompt is genuine or a spoof or what removal may or may not mean - what is the point of default actions if they are not actually carried out automatically by default - this has occurred recently with the latest MSE client 4.0.1526.0 and updates as of 28 May 2012 on Win7 Home Premium with Rogue:Win32/FakePAV and Rogue:JS/FakePAV View this thread

Windows activation tech popup, unknown publisher for all .exe, several seemingly un-repairable, corr
It seemed to have started with the "Windows activation technologies" popups about a month ago. Several times a day it will tell me that my version of Windows is not genuine. I did upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit a year ago but haven't had any trouble since then. I went through the online steps to resolve it through the popup. It would download something but right at the end of the download it would say that it couldn't complete and that would be the end of it... But the popups continue. I also noticed that I am asked to confirm that I want to run certain programs, allow programs to make changes, because they are apparently from unknown publishers. This includes cmd.exe, msconfig, etc. This made me think that these files could be corrupted, lost signatures, idk. So I ran "sfc/scannow." It found files that it couldn't repair. But I don't know how to read the log it generates in notepad to find a particular file that needs attention. I did notice that some of those logs noted the file couldn't be repaired because it was in use so I re-ran "sfc" in safe mode with programs turned off wondering if that would help but no. So... What do you think? Thanks! View the thread

Windows Video Maker question
Hello, I am using Win XP Pro and the Movie Maker that came with it. I have installed a Firewire card in my PC tower and, using an iLink cable, I have managed to create and edit a video in WMV format. However, I cannot watch this on my DVD Player because it only 'sees' MP3 files, so I need to convert my WMV movie to an MP3 movie (not only audio). Is there any free software out there that will convert the whole movie (1.4Gb in size). Many thanks Bluenose View this thread

Outlook 2010 search results highlights not working in Online Mode
Hey Guys, We just implemented Citrix Published Desktop in our environment and due to the nature of the load balancing of the server, the Outlook profile is set to Online Mode. Now, there are few users who was previously using the search capability of the 2010 using the Cache Mode and whenever their results are shown, the keyword will be highlighted. My dell laptop is not booting after it has showed an error
hi, My dell laptop (Inspiron N1050) met with an unknown error while I have been working with word. It stopped working immediately and switched off. When I switched on again I got the message under the title Windows error recovery " Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause". I also tried the available option ' Launch start up repair' and starts windows normally' but both failed to work. I had a call with dell support and they asked me to do some tests with the system. finally they told me they don't see a problem with the hard disk. While the system starts it shows a spark of blue screen appears. Anyway I could recover my data with data recovery software. Warranty period for the system is now just over. My questions are that request answers .... 1. Is the hard disk damaged? 2. Can I reinstall the previous licensed windows7 OS version using the product key? (what are the options for reinstallation). I don't have an OS CD as the dealer has not supplied the Windows CD while I purchased the laptop. Please someone help me thanks Jubin Jacob View the thread
