i was trying to make my fujitzu computer run faster and updated some files. Afterward from start/shutdown, the standby option from the dropdown menu disappeared. All that remained were log-off, restart, and shutdown. Thanks, View this thread

Some laptops I work with recently stopped updating. When I try to, I get "Windows update can not currently check for updates, because the service is not currently running , try restarting your computer". I am trying to figure out why this would happen. The only recent changes done to them were the 18 or so updates from a week or so ago and nothing else. So what I am basically asking is, what would be causes for this to happen? I inadvertently put my password into Window ID when I signed into Hotmail. Now when I click on Windows ID the password pops up along with my Windows ID. How can I remove the password from the pop up window when I click on Windows ID View the thread

Hi, I had not updated windows for a while, and I thought it would be a good idea to update it. I had disabled checking for updates automatically so I go to check for an update manually and I get error code 80244022, I seemed to have fixed that, but now when I go to Check for an Update I get error code 8024402F, I have tried all the options that are applicable to me in any of the help articles connected to this error code but to no avail, also when I tried to run the FixIt it sais the troubleshooter is temporarily unavailable and it had an issue downloading one or more components and cannot run the troubleshooter, so I find the updated FixIt for Windows Update and it says the same thing. When I first got the computer I could update fine but after doing a Clean Install of Windows near the start of this year I have not been able to update which is weird. I am at my wits end, can anyone please help me? View this thread

I work for a company which produces software and one of our products is old enough that it will not run on 64 bit Windows so requires Windows XP Mode. We would normally ask our customers (who are businesses) to download Windows XP Mode then install our product, but we have a customer who does not have internet access on their office PC and cannot download from there. The office PC is Windows 7 Ultimate 64. They can download from their home PC which is a 32bit version of Windows 7 but this causes problems as if they select to download the 64bit XP Mode the Microsoft authentication check won't run (presumably because it's running the 64bit checker on a 32bit PC). So, my question is, are we legally allowed to download the XP Mode installer (plus Virtual PC installer) using our Windows 7 Pro 64 machine and post it to them on a DVD? Or will this cause complications in itself being a different version of Windows to the target machine? (Ultimate 64) Thanks in advance! View the thread

A scan show's that i am missing both my Broadcom netlink ™ gigabit Ethernet drive/device, and my Atheros ARSB wireless network adaptor, i know this is correct, but do-not know where to look for them? I have window's 7 and am connected to a homegroup and do have internet connection, but when i look at the sharing center it does not show my connection. can someone please help, when it does show my connection it is very weak. when making a major changes to your computer you are directed to call a customer support person in India or some where else I always have a hard time understanding what the person on the other end of the phone is saying or they talk extremely fast, well to make a long story short I get very up tight and frustrated. In the contacts folder I can no longer enter anything or change anything in an existing contact. The screen is all the same color. I can make a new contact, the blocks to enter info are white where as an existing contact the screen is all the same color. Used to work. I was in regedit trying to clear up space for my computer and i deleted a few file from a program called teamviewer and i think thats all i deleted anyways i downlaoded this program to see what my computer registry is currently running and when i finished doing everthing i closed it and i try to run regedit again to make sure everything was good and it said windows can not find regedit.exe make sure you typed name correctly and then try again. so then i treid to fix it trough cnmd but u need to have adminstrator for that and etc.. Hi There Just upgraded my system to Win7 64bit Home Premium and then found that my OKI C3200 Printer will not work as there is bno driver for it. However there is a driver for the same series of OKI Printers including the C3200 & C3200n. I have checked with Oki, Microsoft and Driver Detective who all say there is no available driver, Oki suggestyed I use the 64bit Vista version??? I have downloaded the 3200/3500 series drivers from OKI and unzipped the file but cannot find any info on how to install it. Any ideas or advice on this would be greatly appreciated View the thread

Before when I played a WMP file from a website it would open up in the WMP browser. Now it opens up in my browser (Google Chrome) and plays the file. I don't like it it my browser, it was much easier to use in the WMP browser. How do I use it in the WMP browser again? Thanks for any help. P.S. Being 78 I am having eye problems and I went to "Personalizing" and changed the font size to 120 but I then found this made some screens too large to access the bottom of the screen. Specifically, I cannot access the "OK" instruction at the bottom of the Personalizing screen in order to return to the default. Even if the answer only demonstrates my computer idiocy, I would really like some help. View this thread
