My system has tried 68 times since April 11th to install this Security Update for Microsoft Works 9 (KB2680317) and it has failed every time. I get the unknown error 646 and can't find how to fix it. If my system won't accept this update, how do I get rid of it so my system doesn't try every day to install it ? View this thread

I've had my computer since 2009 and its been fine until now. My operating system isWindows Vista Ultra 64-bit with service pack 2. I cannot download the new updates from May 8, 2012. These are: KB2604111 KB2604121 KB2656405 and KB2690729 (Silverlight) plus there are other updates for MS Office. I keep getting theerror code 641. In a separate issue I get the following error when trying to fix the Update error. This error reads, "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed...." How can all this be fixed?I have been trying several of the fixes that were previously mentioned on the Boards with no help. None of the Fix It downloads have worked. I've checked to make sure that the Installer Module is "started" which it is. The only thing I can possibly tie this problem to, is a "speed-up / fix" program sponsored through AOL. Everything worked fine until I uninstalled this program. View this thread

Hi,I have a Windows Vista Home Basic, and i wanted to dualboot it with XP.Xp is working very good, but when i wanna start vista, its stucks booting after the screen with the moving bar.When i try to boot in safe mode it stucks when the drivers are loaded, and when i wanna run startup repair, it says:Windows failed to start0xc0000225 A required device isn't connected or can't be accessedI tryed to run CHKDSK but when i do that its taking very long~2hours~ but i dint finsihed it completly yet. How long can CHKDSK take? Every time i press check for updates in the windows update panel I keep getting the message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the serice is not running. You may need to restart your computer. I have windows running on a partition in a Mac. I have restarted twice and it still makes no difference ! Before i used to Update it online but now since this has been integrated that is also apparently not possible. It keeps reverting me to this program and the program does not work! View this thread

My Windows Update Error 8000FFFF error message was received when I clicked the Icon in my desktop tray to conduct the automatic Windows Update. When I bought the computer, these were the properties I supposedly had: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3 Intel 4CPU 2.8 Ghz 2.79Ghz, .99GB Ram After Guruaid.com "cleaned" my computer, I've had a LOT of problems. While fixing these, I noticed that I only have Service Pack 1 installed now. I know that I have to install the Service Pack 2 app to be able to reinstall the Service Pack 3 that I'm supposed to have. Apparently, my system is a 32 bit, which should be compatible with Service Pack 3. There is no mention of whether it's 32 bit or 64 bit in the Properties WIndow, so I'm assuming it's a 32 bit. My question is what download do I use to install both the Service Pack 2 & 3, as there are multiple selections given on the site? View this thread

hello, im having trouble with my desk top not responding to anything i click on after a while. the mouse still moves freely but nothing will open. i have the dump ram cache short cut but not sure if thats the real issue with it. have done virus scans, malware, spyware. comes up with nothing wrong. any suggestions or ideas of what it could be? It seemed like w/ Vista there was the option to change the location of where my downloads would go. I can't seem to find a way on settings to change the location of downloads. Every time I download something I have to go "computer" and then click on downloads. Is there a way to change this on Windows 7? Thanks for your help! View the thread

The process svchost.exe is using a lot of memory and CPU. It goes up to and over 300K. The services it deals with are BITS, EventSystem, Nla, RasMan, SENS, TapiSrv, W32Time, and winmgmt. This may or not be related, but the same time this started, AVG stopped a few threats, mainly blackhole viruses, or something like that. Also, there's sometimes shutdowns if I don't end the svchost.exe process, although, this gets a bit annoying, since it turns my taskbar white... Also, the process doesn't seem to end. So, I was wondering if any of those services might be the cause of my issues, and how to deal with that said service. The sooner, the better. I have a feeling this is related to me downloading a few visual novels recently though. I may have downloaded a bogus one, but I always deleted them if they were bad files. View this thread
