Why do i keep having to reset the registry for windows installer? I always seem to have to check to make sure it is there and if not, I than do the reset procedure. It does the reset and than everything is okay for a few days and than it disappears again and I have to reset it again. This has been going on for about six weeks. I only realize it is not there when I have updates to software and it fails such as Adobe, etc.Thanks for your help. View this thread

I have setup WSUS server in our environment. We have all Windows 7 Workstations. I have set 4 - Auto download and schedule the install option with 0 - Every day at 12:00 noon in Group policy on domain. I have approved the required updates as well. Clients workstations are also registered with servers. Only this they don't update automatically as per Group policy. On any workstation, I ran RSOP and it is showing right information about WSUS server and the schedule which I mentioned above. I can go to Control Panel and Windows Update, it shows 'Managed by your system administrator' which is right, and if I check for updates, it shows me all the updates which I have approved on WSUS server. Only thing it doesn't update automatically as per schedule. I have to manually update it. Can anybody help me to resolve this issue please. View this thread

I removed the power cord and the battery. I have nothing but a black screen so I cannot use the f7,f8 to restart. Now what do I do? View this thread

After being out of town for a week, I used my home computer last night (it had been in Sleep mode). When I went to put it in Sleep mode again, the Sleep button had Shutdown/Update label. Clicked that and left. This morning, the computer is still running, still displaying "Please do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing update 1 of 13.." Is a hard shutdown going to cause problems? Thanks. View the thread

I have Office 2003 Professional installed and considering Office 2010 Home and Student Retail for 3 PCs to upgrade all of the computers in our home. The question, will I lose 2003 Outlook and 2003 Access when the Office 2010 is installed since those components are not included View this thread

these problums have been going on for about 5 months. Each time I try to install it tells me that they failed to install no error code given. Have tried all the fixes that microsoft suggested. Even there Fix-it utility will not download. View this thread

I have a Windows XP 32bit platform and a Project 2010 installation (two different ones). Takes the key, goes through the setup, when it's about 75% done it starts rolling back. Nothing in the event logs to even give me a clue as to what is going on. Are these two compatible? I'm not finding anything on any other forums/websites to help. Hi all, So I recently had to do a fresh install on my Vista home premium (x64) machine. Everything was going fine until Microsoft update tried to reinstall KB955430 to clear the way for SP2. When trying to install this I get error 0x80070057 the parameter is incorrect. I've tried safe mode, uninstalling my antivirus, running the SP2 standalone (the first thing it does is try to install 955430 and gives me the same error), the microsoft fix it tool, running the check SUR and an SCF scan and so far nothing has worked. had trouble for a long time couldn't send an e-mail or link from the internet because it was greyed out...some nice person there and I want to thank them told us what to do and it worked. But now when I send a link the person on the other side cannot open it directly when receiving, has to copy and past into a browser. How can I create system images from 2 seperate computers on common external usb disk. Background: I made a system image of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (Start > All Programs > Maintenance > Backup and Restore > Create a system image) and placed it on an external hard drive (Samsung S2 Portable 3 USB Device). I I let Windows choose what to back up. I did this on the first PC.All went well. I then went to a second PC with my external usb hard drive and tried to follow the same procedure but I get an I/O error. I suspect that it's because Windows backup is trying to create another directory called "WindowsImagebackup" and the directory already exists from the first PC I backed up. So How do I store multiple system images from different laptop computers on the same usb external hard drive? Do I have to partition my external usb hard drive for each computer I want to create a system image for? View the thread
