open windows - full
Why when I click on any of my folder shortcuts on the desktop, do my windows, such as My Documents, open in a little (approx) 4" x 4" window instead of a full window. This is very annoying and I can not figure out how to get them to open in full windows. Any help is greatly appreciated. Jerry View the thread

Windows 8 - Network Shares with Quota - not releasing space on object deletion
We are trialing Windows 8 Pro RTM on a few workstations. Upon deleting anything from a network share (running Windows Server 2008 R2 with 'hard' disk quotas) it does not appear to release the disk space - this shows on both the FSRM Console and the drive mapped to the workstation. On the server itself through file explorer, the disk space has been released, so this looks to be a bug(?) with Windows 8 and quota management not updating its quotas. Anyone have any ideas or have the same problem as this kills the idea of deployment across the entire enterprise for us (potentially upsetting 15k+ users). Thanks! Windows 8 "PC Settings" /Personalise/ problem
Hi there, I recently upgraded to Windows 8 (about a week or two ago) and have had a problem with the way I personalise my computer ever since. When I click "Change PC Settings", the words are very blurry and and completely black so stat I can't select them. Whatever I try and change, from my background to my display avatar, doesn't change. I have tried to "trust my PC" but my old e-mail doesn't work anymore so I have to wait ONE WHOLE MONTH for it to go through. Please tell me I can fix this problem! Thanks, Josh View the full article

Empty drives not showing in 'My Computer'
They are shown in the middle pane, but not in the folder tree. Obviously, my question is how to show them in the folder tree. They pop up when there is media in the drive. In: 'Organize' - 'Folder and search options' I unchecked the option: 'Hide empty drives in the Computer folder' See here for a screenshot. I applied and rebooted but no luck. To be sure I repeated the process but the problem persists. Hope one is willing to help. Regards, Nick. View the thread

Windows repair disc
When I made a system repair disk I was prompted to label it with the words "Repair disc Microsoft Windows Vista 64 bit". I have converted my computer from Vista to a Windows 7, sixty four bit system. Can I use this disc to repair my Windows 7 system or should I use the Windows 7 installation disc? [Moved from feedback] View the thread

Clock in Taskbar stops working
I'm working with Windows 8 x64 for a few days now and several times a day, the clock in the taskbar stops working completely. The system clock is running fine, see screenshot. Never had this problem with Windows 7 before. I can't really tell which event triggers this bug, it seems to just happen randomly. My system: Thinkpad T400, 8GB RAM, C2D P8700, Crucial M4 256GB. Install Windows 8 on rebuilt computer that has no operating system, but I own Windows XP
I am rebuilding my computer, new mother board, hard drive, etc and will transfer my Windows XT license to this reconfigured computer. Can I purchase the Windows 8 download and install it directly on my reconfigured computer. I don't think I can reinstall Windows XP since the disks are for a Dell computer, my original computer. Windows 8 File copy bug
Hello, I installed a brand new copy of Windows 8 today, and i have tried to copy some files from my Phone to my harddisk. But it frequently fails, the copy speed drops down to 0 bytes per second and nothing gets copied. I copied the same files on another pc flawlessly. So this should be a bug in windows 8. If anyone has a fix for this stupid bug, please let me know. View the full article
