Copied .dbx files from a backup drive to a folder on my desktop, which included not only the usual folders (inbox, sent, etc) but also included folders I created where I store various categories of email, such as finance, friends. Before you ask, yes I backed up the folders.dbx file also. When I tried to import the .dbx files from the desktop folder, the only .dbx files that the import recognizes are the usual .dbx files (inbox, sent, etc). Why doesn't it recognize my other email files? View this thread

is microsoft security essentials and windows defender enough for my deskstop computer or shall i install norton internet security? i mainly use my pc for loads of games from steam and windows live pc games and the odd banking (ie9 private browsing). i use ccleaner to cleanup after (not the regisrty, nothing ticked) and just basically going around yahoo, yahoo answers, microsft answers basic reading. everything else is done on my laptop. thank you View this thread

The little box flashes up and says the issue " Bluetooth Stacking Error". I was told this had something to do with Windows updates. If that is true, then why doesn't Microsoft know this before it effects my computer, and why don't they fix it? back to my original, how can I fix it(since apparently Microsoft will not) View the thread

One of the fabulous 3am software updates crashed my computer. It's alive but sick! I need to upgrade to SP1, SP2, SP3 and I assume to IE8 or better, but find absolutely no information on how to accomplish this! Help! View this thread

My new computer is running Windows 7 Pro and has several Microsoft programs listed in start up but they do not open. I am particularly interested in Windows Mail (A vista e-mail client) and I can find it in the C drive and it has my contacts in it but no messages. Can anyone tell me why those programs are listed when they are not available to the user??? Sandi View the thread

My cd drive stopped working and I received some instructions to uninstall and then reinstall it. Needless to say, I assumed that the automatic driver search feature would find the driver. So I uninstalled the driver and the system could not find the software to reinstall the driver. I have gone to the Microsoft site to find the driver, but it is not available there. Cannot get past the desktop any longer. Freezes up, clicking on dialog boxes does nothing most of the time. Clicking on some dialog boxes will close them but leaves the box empty and completely whited out. The icon over the task bar is different than that that is over the desktop. Everything works just fine in safe mode. I've worked on this for almost 3 weeks and have given in to asking for help. One of my diagnostic checks gives multiple(IRQ) did not set in time. (OFOO:0132 or OFOO:XXXX ) Running Vista Basic 32 bit. Have done a system restore (not a complete reboot) and it made it so that the cursor would move around on the desktop (but produced no results most of the time) as opposed to before when the cursor was just immediately frozen. Also received DST Short Test Failed and OFOO:065D. Disk-DST Self Test Read Error. Remember that in Safe Mode I can do everything just fine. It's the only way I can access the internet. When I start my computer I get a message saying that " Windows cannot find the file C:Docume~1ownerLocals~1Temp{57991~1.exe. " After I click ok I get another message saying Windows cannot open .... This started a few days ago after I installed aMcAfee antivirus program. Even if I could find this file I don't want to touch the registry. If I just ignore the message will it cause any problems? (From similar questions on this site it seems to be malware). Also my antivirus software keeps telling me, incorrectly, that my subscription is about to expire and if I want to stop the annoying pop up about the "expiry" date I should uninstall, then reinstall the McAfee software. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Would uninstalling then reinstalling the anti virus software help? Thanks, Keri View this thread

How does one go about getting help with BSODs? I've got one that happens regularly and a couple of other isolated ones. I have BlueScreenView and DriverView to look at the errors but not sure where and how much to post to get a guru to help me identify where the driver, software or hardware issue is. I'm from the Philippines, and I was trying to add a default credit card in the Account Settings. Sadly the only available country is USA and Canada. Hence I cannot make any purchases in the Windows store. I was hoping to make a few magazine subscriptions. I would really appreciate any help regarding this matter. Was one of several updates that showed up today, it failed to install. Defined as Optional, I tried it anyway since it had to do with Security Essentials, I believe programs like that should be kept up to date and figured it might fix the problem I was having sometimes with that program. Hi, Office 2013 prominently gives users the option to save to SkyDrive - if they have a Microsoft (Hotmail, Live, XBox etc) account they just need to enter a username and password and they are away, nice and easy. Unfortunately, and I'm sure I'm not alone here, company policy forbids the use of cloud services on information security grounds. The only GPO setting I can find relating to this is User Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Microsoft Office 2013/Miscellaneous/Show SkyDrive Sign in Unfortunately, this doesn't fully remove access to SkyDrive. I am using XP and I was using AVG which I could always rely upon to do my weekly automatic Full Scan. I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials since early summer but I am a little concerned that it wont kick in and do my weekly scan automatically. I always have to do it manually. Is this a common problem as I know of two ther people with the same problem. I have double checked all of the settings and everything is as it should be. View this thread

Hi Guys, I have upgraded my Lenovo Desktop Pc from windows 7 Pro to Windows 8 Pro which worked without any issue for couple of days. But it all went wrong after downloading and installing the new updates. I restarted the PC and it got stuck on configuring updates on 13%. I waited for half an hour, PC restarted and stuck again on 13%. To try to troubleshoot the issue. I turned it off and then press shift+F8 and did the system restore from advanced option and it worked. I ran Windows update troubleshooter which showed me that problem has been found but its been fixed and the problem was with "potential windows update database error detected 0*80070490". I checked for the updates again, downloaded and installed them then restarted the machine with a hope that updates will be configured without any issue but encountered the same problem. I am continuously trying to find the solution for it and any help will be appreciated. Thanks View the full article
