Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830)--When this update is installed, upon re-starting my display adapters & a network adapter (Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller) no longer work. Upon uninstalling them, I have not been able to re-install these devices. The network adapter problem stops me from using the internet. I have had to use my Restore feature to get back to normal. Can this be corrected or how can I choose not to install this update & still have "Automatic Updates?" View this thread

When I click on the "add gadgets" it takes me to a microsoft site http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows/downloads/personalize/gadgets that says they are no longer being offfered and there is a security issue. I just got this computer in October and was able to d'load them then, unfortunately the security release was from July. Would have been nice to know that first. They are still shown as a feature on the Windows 7 microsoft pages, that is how I found out about them. Also the Fix it for me page for the security issue is unclear, I don't know whether I am supposed to be enabling or disabling. I have 2 failed windows 7 intalls taking up 35 gig of hard drive space. but I cannot find any windows.old files? The first instal failed as I had a counterfeit copy of windows 7. I bought another copy and installed. I then got a horrible virus/worm that disabled all .exe files and the fix was just beyond me! I installed again but did not realise that the previous installations where still there. I have tried the disk clean up but i never get 'previous versions of windows' to clean up. I cannot find any windows.old files. (Enabled the hidden files) I only have a 60gig ssd hard drive and would like the missing 35gig kindly returned for use. Can any one help? View the thread

I recieved that call too. He tooks the sofware ''ammyy'' to take control of my cpu. He ran the command assoc too. I gave my name and address and email to their site ( something like ''web2fit'') but i refused to gave any creditcard numbers. Is there a danger?? What should i do?? View the thread

Hi, I started this process because my OHs computer was getting an error when Windows checked for updates. So I was following the Microsoft steps to try and resolve it. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968003?ppud=4&wa=wsignin1.0#top First I did a full scan with the anti-virus on the PC, Kaspersky Internet Security, which found nothing. Then I ran the Microsoft Safety Scanner which found 3 threats: Exploit:java/CVE-2009-3867.CA - Removed Exploit:java/CVE-2009-3869.O - Removed Exploit:java/CVE-2008-5353.CG - Partially removed I've looked at the encyclopedia page for the exploit but it doesn't say how to get rid of it completely. I am trying to reinstall windows 7 on my laptop because it is not letting me move around into programs. The mouse works, but I can't enter programs or even get into the start/run area. I can only move around in safe mode. Maybe I have a virus. I don't know, but I followed the instructions on how to reinstall without a disk. I downloaded the home premium 64 bit version. Then I tried to download the Windows7-USB-DVD-tool, but it will not run. Message says it can not run in safe mode. Since the computer won't work in normal mode, I am stuck. I have a HpTouchsmart 600-1030 computer, 3 years old, running Windows 7 perfectly. I ran the MS win 8 upgrade assistant which said I could run Win 8 on my machine (with reservations on the touchscreen performance). I purchased the Win 8 upgrade and installed it on my machine. On restart it produced the Win8 logo, but reported there were no drivers installed! Speaking to MS technical they suggested that I downloaded a second copy of the software and tried again, even though the checks said the original download was OK. The results were the same and a second call to MS technical told me to contact HP Technical. They told me that this machine was not compatible with Win 8 and as it is now out of warranty, so no drivers would be developed for the machine. This is different to the Upgrade system report and belies the statement that it will run on any modern Win 7 machine Where is the 'App website' for help on this matter as apart from purchasing the download and two very long calls to MS, with no offer of a refund available I am very frustrated with both companies! Ora è in recovery mode (dopo aver effettuato un "Clean up", ho cancellato il fimware e formattato il disco, il device rileva una capacità di 3,8 gb circa per cui le "operazioni" hanno funzionato) Mentre il computer rileva il device (anche se solo con una capacità di 31 mb!!) ma non permette nè il download del firmware nè altra "operazione".
