WHS V1 connector and W8 Pro 32 bit
Ok I am totally stumped. I have Windows 8 64 bit consumer preview installed on 3 machines, 32 bit on a laptop and the full blown version of 32 bit Pro on my "shop" machine. On the shop machine connector will not install period. I have d/l the software directly, to the desktop, d/l to the server even standing on two toes and doing a jig still no go. Conversly ALL my other machines have ZERO issues with the pre-view editions. The shop machine sees the server just fine swaps files etc etc even prints to the network printer, scans etc etc so it is NOT a network issue. The error I get is simply the file failed to down load? That said I think I may have deleted the file on the server, ergo when the connector connects to my server it is looking for the connector software in which folder? (I can't remember) which it can't find hence the download fails? What do I specifically need to do to replace the 'deleted' file on the server ? Yes I did do the time sync thing to make sure that all was well. Or is this simply a W8 Pro full version issue? Thanx View this thread

Window Update Problem
Hi when I turn on my computer there is a configuring updates message which says "Stage 3 of 3 - 0% complete. Do not trn off your computer". It eventually goes to my normal screen and the computer seems to be working fine, just a long time to start up. This happens every time the computer is turned on. I have tried running Windows Updates but it just keeps on looking for updates without any results. View this thread

Am i get a product key in Windows 8 upgrade offer?
Hello, I purchased my laptop after the June 2, 2012. So i am eligible for windows 8 upgrade offer. For example i upgraded windows 8 by using the Windows8-UpgradeAssistant. While upgrading i unchecked the DVD check box(so i do not purchase DVD). After that i need to re-install the win 8 O.S again. So, how can i install win 8 directly (without installing the win7)? In the upgrade offer are you giving any product key for win 8? Please clarify my doubts. Thanks Sharath. View this thread

How can I fix error 0x80073712 for .NET 3.5 install on Windows 8 due to corrupt files?
My computer shut down during download/install of .NET 3.5 for Windows 8 and now the files are corrupt. Every time an app needs .NET 2 - 3.5, it asks if I want to install these features. I click "yes" but every time it tells me the "component store has been corrupted." It doesn't tell me where the files are located, and when I click "Tell me how to solve this problem" the button doesn't do anything! I've searched Google and my computer to try and find the files and delete them, but I can't. I tried enabling .NET 3.5 as a feature on my computer as per some other threads but the exact same error message as described above shows up, without any help for how to fix the problem. I will be reverting to Windows 7 if this isn't an easy fix. View this thread

Why the Microsoft website does not provide me a download link for 64-bit version of MSE?
I have a computer installed Windows 7 64-bit version, and I want to install MSE so I visit the Microsoft website here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download Each time after clicking the 'Download' button the website fetch me a 32-bit MSE install file. Of course I cannot install it on my computer, I need a 64-bit version. Why cannot the Microsoft website detect my OS type correctly? On another computer the website can detect the 64-bit OS correctly and fetch a 64-bit MSE downloading, but on my computer it cannot detect my OS correctly. And, Seriously speaking, I am not a stupid user, I know the difference between 64-bit and 32-bit. WHY the Microsoft website do not provide links directly for 64-bit and 32-bit versions of MSE? If Microsoft website provide such links of course I will choose the 64-bit version as I need. But now I have no way to get a 64-bit MSE. This is really the design mistake that not friendly enough to the customer. View this thread

Is there two different types of MSE?
Hello again, I am somewhat a tad confused, I asked if I needed to add another anti-virus program on top of M-softEssentials, such as Kapresky, I understood MSE has its own protection and installing another anti-virus program would be overlapping protection & potentially could cause problems. I just replaced my hardrive on a newer HP desktop that came w/Win7. The shop installed a fresh Win7 which was authenticated with my code on the PC sticker. They did not install MSE for whatever reason, so I went ahead and downloaded the real MSE SP1 from M-soft, & my system runs peachy, hence my hesitance to install a new Kapresky anti-virus program I bought thinking it was necessary to be fully protected. I was advised to download a MSE w/security link. After reading all the posts, I am no longer sure if the MSE SP1 I downloaded has decent anti-virus protection, or is there an extra download I still need which will give me full protection. Is MSE SP1 complete with antivirus protection, or do I need to download another supplement to my MSE SP1 to enhance the protection it already comes with? thanks for any info that can clear my concerns of missing something from MSE SP1 that will give me full protection. regards, boulonman View this thread

error 641 and 80070641 Windows 7 update failure on two seperate computers
I have been trying to update my 64 bit lap top and desktop (both Windows 7) On the laptop, windows update won't launch at all, it keeps telling me to restart.... I have turned off and turned back on the updater via net stop msiserver feature... which doesn't matter. I can't find an article that will help get the updater running on my laptop. On my desktop, important updates fail to install, time and time again... for no reason other than the error listed above. I have turned off the firewall and antivirus. That doesn't help. Once it befriefly said I was up to date before it flashed to the screen saying updates failed. I managed to get 5 of the 18 that wouldn't install by trial and error of trying to install them one at a time.... Most of them fail one at a time or together with the Code 80070641. Any help would be appreciated. I have found one other article in the data base that I followed that did not help either. View this thread

why isnt windows 8 updating
My new laptop keeps giving me a message that windows needs to update but when it does, it will not load past 12% and will attempt to restart after about an hour. At this point I can't get the computer to do anything except refigure at 12% because it reverts back to resuming updates. At this point the laptop is useless. How do I fix this?! View this thread

The Death Of Microsoft
Microsoft are now too big to help potential customers, so I'll try here. InMy upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 it tells me that loads of stuff (mostly Microsoft software) won't work but the links it gives me for more ddetails go to a totally inrelated subject.s Quite simple stuff, but it seems to defeat Microsoft. If anyone from Microsoft reads this (which I doubt), what am I supposed to do? Everybody that I know says to stay well clear of Windows 8. I will do because it looks like rubbish to me, when it cannot tell you how to deal with these issue: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Microsoft Corporation file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/warning.png Solution available file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/appicon_0000be74f7cca5656010179f289deceb27d12562ae37.png Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 ENU Microsoft Corporation, Version 3.5.5386.0 file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/warning.png Update available file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/appicon_000034e7eb480082f145da38ee7c0e11f22dd710be19.png Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 for Devices ENU Microsoft Corporation, Version 3.5.5386.0 file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/warning.png Update available file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/appicon_00008ac46bc5a8758587e12283a05d731532c6da7c65.png Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.2 Microsoft Corporation, Version 1.2.0.0 file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/warning.png Paid update available file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/appicon_0000c9f6b7659141ec69f6b5b987a644607de94580ae.png Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files (English) Microsoft Corporation, Version 9.00.5000.00 file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/warning.png Solution available file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/appicon_0000ca18930872be3d7a5606177dd60e8417159b89ee.png Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Remote Debugger - ENU Microsoft Corporation, Version 9.0 file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/warning.png Paid update available file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/appicon_00004c8a0f2432e9e40d5e3492accdcdc300ea83385c.png Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Development Edition - ENU Microsoft Corporation, Version 9.0 file:///C:/Users/Perry/Documents/My%20Documents/Windows%208%20Upgrade%20Assistant_files/warning.png Solution available View this thread

Updates never install
Hello, I am running Windows 7 and have 26 updates that are either "recommended" or "important" that fail to install upon my computer's restart. The installation during shutdown goes fine, I guess, but during the "confirguing Windows updates" part of the restart process, I can't get passed 15% before an error message of "Failure to install windows updates" comes up. The error code that updates reports is 80071A90. I have tried turning off/on my McAfee firewall, the automatic fix tool from Microsoft, as well as trying to download and install several of the failed updates through the MS website each time there is an error message saying that he update "does not apply to my computer." Please help me out as this is getting seriously annoying and I might actually miss out on some important updates. Thank you, -G View this thread

Windows 8: Configuring Updates stuck at 12%. Help!
I have a brand new HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 8. Today, I turned it on, and it went directly to a screen that said "Configuring Windows Updates. 1%. Do not turn off your computer." It stopped at 12% and did not change for a very long time, so I looked online and found out that I'm not the only one with this problem. I turned off my computer, turned it back on, and got into safe mode. I can get to this screen: http://0.tqn.com/d/pcsupport/1/0/i/I/-/-/1.png and this screen: http://www2.windows7hacker.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Boot-to-Safe-Mode-Troubleshoot-Advanced-options.png and this one: http://www.faqforge.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Screenshot-8.png I don't know what to do with those options to fix it. I already tried turning it off and back on, "continue," and "automatic repair." Please help. Tell me what I can do. View this thread

How do I stop Media Gallery from installing on my Sony VAIO?
I don't know if this was one of the recent updates from Microsoft or not, but I keep getting a pop up for the Media Gallery installation on my Sony VAIO laptop. It compiles the Media Gallery then afterwards it asks for a CD, which I don't have, for the installation. This thing never goes away, no matter how many times I click 'cancel'.
