How to turn of the display in Windows 8 without locking or making computer go to sleep ? The problem is that when I enable ‘Turn off display after x minutes’ feature from control panel, the device goes into sleep after ‘x’ minutes. It seems that both the options – turn off display/put computer to sleep are connected. It devices goes automatically to sleep mode as soon as the display is turned off. So, is there any method to turn off the display of the device without it going into sleep mode ? Also, whenever the display turns off, the device automatically locks. So, is there a way by which I can disable it ? My objective is to turn off the display and keep the system running. Thanks View the full article

I just paid $39.99 to download Windows 8, after being a beta tester for a long, long time. I was told that once the public release version of Windows 8 was on sale that the cursor jumping would stop. I deleted some photos from my computer by mistake!! I used Search from the opening screen and Steela Phonix windows software, but have been unable to recover the photos. Is there another way of recovering the photos or another piece of free software I could try?? Thanks Wyndham View this thread

I have Windows Vista 32-bit edition on my computer and it won't load into windows the normal way or in safe mode. I tried to do a repair that was in the F8 menu but all I got was a blue screen with this message at the top left: STOP: d0000144 Unknown Hard Error Unknown Hard Error What does this mean and how can I fix it? I've attempted to delete through normal channels and I've run suggestions as the administrator, but simply cannot delete this old and quite worthless backup file from 2 computers ago. There is nothing I need because the individual segment files within the backup will not open and I have not been able to find a program to open them. I need help to delete this rather large file. Greetings all, Okay I was searching for blank discs with the highest possible storage capacity on the net last night. I found some blanks that were 25GB, but they're listed as "Blu-Ray" discs! Question please?..... Can you burn and watch standard files such as movies, music, and assorted fare to a "Blu-Ray" disc with the standard burner and player that came with my computer? Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 Build 7601 When I boot my Computer the screen goes Black, Pixelates very Briefly, then shows the blue screen. I ran a Memory Check and found no errors, My Drivers all say they are up to date, malware bytes finds svchost gets rid of it and it always comesback. I think it might be malware. I just installed the Office 2013 32 bit Professional Plus on Windows 7, and it appeared to install correctly, but none of the apps will open. Word comes up with the splash screen, but then it disappears, none of the other apps do anything. I am running Windows 7 and I am logged on as the administrator. I am trying to run DOS commands from the command prompt, but I am running into a problem. For example when I run defrag from the C: prompt. I receive this message. "The disk defrgamenter cannot start because you have insufficient priveleges to perform this operation. " Also, if I try to create a file in the C: or C:Users directories, I get the "Access is denied" message. I am able to schedule the defrag using the Disk Defragmenter tool in Windows 7.
