I am trying to install updates on a Vista Home Premium reinstall that is updated to SP2. I keep receiving a 800B0100 error code. I ran the fix for the error code but still receive the same error. The updates that I am trying to install are Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, Windows Vista SP2, and Windows Server 2008 SP2 Update x86 (KB982536) and Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter (April 2012) (KB905866). Computer was working fine until I made a change in settings for the Wireless Adapter I had connected. The screen when black & I couldn't do anything. I restarted the computer, pushed the F10 button, had the choice of recovery solutions, chose System Recovery without losing data, recovery successful, clicked on "Next" to choose country & cursor is frozen. Tried another mouse & keyboard, same thing, tried changing batteries in mouse, same thing. Have tried restarting, gets to the choose country screen & freezes. View this thread

I just did an upgrade on my Toshiba from 7 to 8 and now I can't do the upgrades that have been downloaded. Has Microsoft created a utility to take care of this. I have all the files mentioned in another post in the windows/servicing/packages subdirectory but don't feel like messing thing up even more by trying to delete them. Going back to 7 seems like the best solution at this time. An easy to understand solution would be nice. View this thread

I cannot update Windows. I keep getting error code 80244019. I downloaded Windows fix-it, and it detected problems, fixed them, and Windows still would not update. I have done all of the troubleshooting tips, and I have run 3 different anti virus programs, including one that ran 12 hours and checked every file. Everything came up clean. View this thread

First, could not update Microsoft Security Essentials. Still cannot. Solution - remove MSE, replace with something that works. Next, Windows Update informs me that important updates need to be downloaded and installed. But it too, like so much of Microsoft's output, does not work. Microsoft then shrugs and says 'sort it out yourselves' - hence this website. So, anyone able to help? Should be grateful for any assistance. Tony View this thread

For the last week the Store tile has been displaying "5" on my Surface RT. Going into the Store, "installing update" displays in the top right corner. Clicking on that link reveals that Adera is trying to install an update with a progress meter going nowhere. The Adera tile on the start screen doesn't have an "uninstall" option. I found a powershell script that allows you to uninstall apps. This works fine on my desktop PC running Win8 Pro, but to no avail on RT. Its driving me mad. Any ideas? View the full article

Hello, I have noticed that most of my background running apps, the ones with icons in the taskbar notification are (bottom right) keep closing/disappearing. Things like my Asus Audio App, My Logitech G software, My AV etc. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? OS: Windows 8 Pro x64. i5 2500k, 16gb RAM, 256gb SSD, 3tb HDD. Thanks. I have Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and have spent all day (from 9:00am to 9:25pm) trying to update to XP 2003. I have a Microsoft Office 2003 CD and when I try to download I get a message saying "Required Install File YS561401.CAB could not be found" !I have been going around in circles ALL day!!! Can someone please HELP ME! When I try to set automatic updates for my computer I keep getting this message: "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem" - None of the options has helped me at all! I've even tried to download "Silverlight" (as recommended) and I get an message ID: 1511 - "Install missing Windows components, download from Windows update!!! ARRRGH! With the advent of Win 8 , many of my clients are now starting to consider the possibility of migrating from WinXP to at least Win 7 and then to Win 8. Ok, so my Lenovo laptop is about 2 years old. All the garbage on it was slowing it down and I did not want to put all the bloat ware back on it, so I decided to go with a fresh copy of windows 7 instead of lenovos recovery, and install all the needed drivers myself. So everything went fine until I tried to activate it. When I try to activate, it says error code 0xc004e003, and says the key is invalid. I tried phone activation and MS said the same thing that the key is invalid. Whats funny is when I click the button that says purchase a new key, it says "welcome to windows, because the version of windows installed on your pc is valid, enjoy....." It doesn't even give me a link to purchase. Any ideas? View the thread
